Every day, you will push the boundaries of creative design, and HARMAN is committed to providing you with the opportunities, innovative technologies and resources to build a successful career.

A Career at HARMAN

As a technology leader that is rapidly on the move, HARMAN is filled with people who are focused on making life better. Innovation, inclusivity and teamwork are a part of our DNA. When you add that to the challenges we take on and solve together, you’ll discover that at HARMAN you can grow, make a difference and be proud of the work you do everyday.

About the Role

As a test development engineer, you will contribute to the development of test systems for Harman products, including test rack commissioning for release, test rack operation for projects, test rack maintenance in technical and financial. Explore new test technologies/method based on local trend of market, especially for readiness for new technologies before test running of customer projects.

Also, you will collaborate with other global teams for more smart test tools development.

What You Will Do

  • Based on product R&D and mass production requirements, break down and identify testing needs, and develop standardized testing requirements to provide accurate input for the development of product reliability testing systems. Establish a systematic product testing knowledge framework based on the product architecture of IC and CCU, as well as the hardware architecture, functional characteristics, and industry testing standards of related products.
  • Proactively develop standardized testing specifications and technical solutions to positively guide stakeholders, thereby unifying the team’s testing criteria and technical understanding.
  • RFQ: Based on product testing standards and customized testing requirements, complete the overall design of the test rack solution, including architecture planning, hardware selection, link design, feasibility review of the overall solution, and assessment of costs and development timelines. Test rack strategy in Test Vision System, modular simulation/design and build of test rack, test rack and re-usable modules digitization.
  • Strictly adhere to the team’s full-process standards for test rack development and drive the development of test racks. Lead the implementation of the entire lifecycle of test racks—from development, debugging, and validation through to official release and project delivery—to ensure the racks meet the requirements for mass production and R&D testing, and use project experience to inform process optimization.
  • Test rack manufacturing: work on automatic test racks, including the design and manufacturing of test racks and functional modules; integrated hardware and software testing; data deviation analysis and troubleshooting; identifying test system compatibility issues; and continuously iterating to optimize test stability and efficiency.
  • Test rack SW development/deployment for all products, test rack commissioning and releasing. Software development and framework maintenance, with a focus on automating testing processes and achieving high reusability of test scripts.
  • Develop technical documentation, a solution repository, and standardized processes for test racks; continuously optimize the versatility, compatibility, and iteration efficiency of test racks.
  • Collaborate with R&D, and project teams to support testing and development tasks—including new product launches, version updates, specialized validation, and test data analysis—to ensure the smooth delivery of project milestones.
  • Continuously partner with engineers in TTR global on HW/SW/Smart tools development to ensure that test requirements are met in different projects and products, fit for future.
  • Innovation: Participate in laboratory-related Global initiatives and innovation activities to drive the development of the SMART Lab.
  • Collaboration: Actively promote cross-departmental collaboration, align with project requirements, and propose recommendations for optimizing equipment, methods, and processes based on operational scenarios to support the on-time delivery of test development projects and the success of pre-development projects.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in the design, build, commissioning, release, and lifecycle maintenance of customized automated test systems, preferably for automotive electronics, audio, acoustic, infotainment, or validation applications. Experienced in test rack architecture definition, functional module integration, equipment selection, system bring-up, stability improvement, and long-term operational support.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in automotive communication protocols, including CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet, with practical experience in protocol configuration, signal-level debugging, bus analysis, fault diagnosis, and validation support for automotive electronic control units.
  • Solid knowledge of automotive digital audio and related in-vehicle technologies, including SPDIF and A2B, with hands-on experience supporting audio signal verification, interface debugging, and system-level validation. Familiarity with broadcast technologies and GNSS technologies such as AM, FM, DAB, and GPS.
  • Hands-on experience in automotive ECU testing, validation, and troubleshooting, including test setup preparation, issue reproduction, diagnostic data collection, root-cause investigation, and verification of corrective actions in both development and validation environments.
  • Strong capability in test data analysis, failure analysis, root-cause investigation, and systematic problem solving. Able to interpret measurement results, identify abnormal trends or deviations, summarize technical findings clearly, and translate analysis outcomes into practical corrective actions and follow-up plans.
  • Proficient with NI-based test platforms and toolchains, including LabVIEW, TestStand, VeriStand, NI-DAQ, and related instrument control interfaces. Able to develop maintainable and reusable test software, integrate third-party instruments and communication devices, support deployment and release activities, and troubleshoot issues across software, hardware, drivers, and test environment dependencies. Experience with Python, C#, or other programming languages for test automation, data processing, or tool development is preferred.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Able to work effectively with R&D, validation, manufacturing, project, and global engineering teams; clarify technical requirements; align test strategies; and prepare well-structured test plans, issue analysis reports, validation summaries, and technical documentation. Good written and spoken English is required for day-to-day collaboration with global teams.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Experience designing, developing, or maintaining databases for test data management, traceability, automated reporting, and engineering dashboard applications.
