Overview

Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated and curious intern to join the Information Technology (IT) team in the Yale College Dean's Office. This is not a typical IT internship. You will work directly with the Senior Director of Web and IT Planning and collaborate with a team that is actively exploring how emerging technologies, especially AI, can improve the student and staff experience across Yale College.

This role is designed for someone who likes to build, experiment, and figure things out. If you enjoy testing ideas, prototyping quickly, and using tools like AI assistants, low-code platforms, or development environments to bring concepts to life, you will feel right at home here.

We are especially interested in creative problem-solving, including “vibe coding,” rapid prototyping, and using modern AI development tools to turn ideas into working solutions. You do not need to know everything coming in. Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to try are what matter most.

Responsibilities

As an IT Intern, you will:

• Support day-to-day IT operations, including drafting communications and helping coordinate team activities
• Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, and basic networking issues
• Contribute to the rollout of new technologies, upgrades, and system improvements
• Collaborate on real Yale College projects that impact students, faculty, and staff
• Test and evaluate new tools, including AI-powered platforms and emerging technologies
• Prototype ideas using AI tools and development environments such as Microsoft Copilot, Replit, and similar platforms
• Experiment with “vibe coding” and rapid iteration to explore creative solutions to real problems
• Help document processes, tools, and workflows so others can learn and build on your work

We are looking for someone who:

• Is naturally curious and enjoys solving problems in creative ways
• Has an interest in AI, emerging technologies, or building things, even if you are just getting started
• Has a basic understanding of computer systems, software, or networking
• Communicates clearly and works well both independently and as part of a team
• Has experience with Microsoft Office; exposure to web development, scripting, or programming is a plus
• Has explored tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, Replit, or other AI and prototyping platforms, even informally
