Company Description
Micas Networks is a leading open networking company focused on accelerating data delivery. Catering to the needs of enterprise and cloud data centers as well as hyperscalers, the company’s full portfolio of open networking products including whitebox – bare metal switches, supports various operating systems, including SONiC. Micas also offers comprehensive data center networking switch development services and custom options, leveraging R&D, engineering, and supply chain management expertise along with high-quality and capacity manufacturing capabilities. Micas is set to transform the next-generation AI networking. Our mission is to accelerate our customers' adoption of disaggregated, AI-enabling networks. We are committed to innovation, putting our customers first, and operational excellence. We leverage world class partnerships and open-source software to deliver solutions that are both leading-edge and cost-effective.
Job Description
Micas is seeking a top-tier Sr. NMS (Network Management System) Engineer to design, develop and deliver the management, monitoring and telemetry layer for Micas white-box switches. You will own how customers deploy, configure, monitor and operate large-scale data center and AI networks, from Day-0 provisioning through Day-2 operations, and you will play a pivotal role in bridging customer operational requirements and our R&D execution. Micas systems use SONiC as the primary NOS.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the bridge between customers and Micas R&D on network management: understand how customers deploy, monitor and operate their networks, and translate those needs into NMS requirements and roadmap priorities
- Design, develop and maintain NMS software for Micas white-box switches running SONiC, covering fault, configuration, performance and inventory management
- Build programmable management interfaces and data models using gNMI/gNOI, NETCONF/RESTCONF and YANG (OpenConfig and SONiC models), with SNMP and syslog support for existing customer tools
- Develop streaming telemetry, alarms and dashboards for interface, QoS/RDMA (PFC, ECN, buffer) and cable/optics (DOM) health across large-scale AI fabrics
- Implement Day-0/Day-1 automation, including zero-touch provisioning (ZTP), configuration templating, and fabric-wide software/firmware upgrades
- Integrate Micas switches with customer and third-party NMS, OSS and monitoring platforms (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana, ELK), and help customers configure, deploy and troubleshoot Micas whitebox running SONiC or Micas NOS
- Build automated tests and CI pipelines for NMS features and APIs, and validate management functions at scale
- Collaborate with SONiC platform, hardware, test and customer support teams to identify, report and resolve issues
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Engineering/Computer Science/related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience developing network management, monitoring or automation software for data center, cloud or service provider networks
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or Go are a must; experience building REST/gRPC APIs and backend services
- Hands-on experience with management protocols and data models: gNMI/gRPC, NETCONF/RESTCONF, YANG (OpenConfig), SNMP and syslog
- Experience building streaming telemetry and observability pipelines (e.g., Telegraf, Kafka, Prometheus, InfluxDB, Grafana)
- Solid understanding of L2 and L3 protocols such as VLAN, MLAG, STP, OSPF, BGP, EVPN-VXLAN
- Must have QoS/RDMA experience (RoCEv2, PFC, ECN), including monitoring congestion and lossless behavior in AI/ML fabrics
- Strong Linux skills; experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Strong technical abilities, problem solving, designing, coding and debugging skills
- Great teammate with multi-tasking ability and good interpersonal skills; comfortable working directly with customers
