Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Solar Lead Electrical professional to lead the electrical engineering and execution activities for utility-scale solar power projects. The role will be responsible for electrical design reviews, engineering coordination, technical specifications, vendor management, installation, testing and commissioning, and ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards and statutory requirements.
The incumbent will work closely with Project Management, Civil, Procurement, Engineering, EPC contractors and other stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of solar projects.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end electrical engineering and execution activities for utility-scale solar projects, from design and engineering through installation, testing and commissioning.
- Review and approve electrical designs, drawings, layouts, SLDs, cable sizing, equipment specifications and technical documents.
- Oversee electrical infrastructure including HT/LT systems, transformers, inverters, switchgear, HT cables, protection systems, earthing and lightning protection.
- Manage electrical packages covering pooling substations, switchyards, transmission lines and grid interconnection infrastructure.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, OEMs and internal stakeholders to ensure timely project execution.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IS, IEC, CEA, state electricity regulations and DISCOM / STU / CTU grid connectivity requirements.
- Monitor site progress, resolve technical issues and ensure adherence to approved engineering specifications, project schedules and quality standards.
- Lead inspection, testing and commissioning activities for electrical equipment and systems.
- Coordinate with grid authorities, utilities and other external agencies for approvals, inspections and synchronization.
- Identify technical risks, implement corrective actions and drive cost optimisation without compromising safety or quality.
- Ensure implementation of electrical safety standards, statutory requirements and HSE practices at project sites.
- Review contractor measurements, technical deviations, BOQs and vendor submissions.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
10–18 years of experience in electrical engineering and execution of utility-scale solar projects, with strong expertise in HT/LT systems, pooling substations, switchyards, transmission lines, electrical design reviews, equipment specifications, testing and commissioning, grid connectivity, EPC/vendor management and statutory compliance; B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
Good-to-Have Skills & Experience
Experience in large-scale solar PV projects, evacuation infrastructure, SCADA and protection systems, grid synchronisation, project cost optimisation, contract management and coordination with STU/CTU/DISCOM authorities; exposure to hybrid renewable energy or BESS projects will be an added advantage.
