A heavy civil contractor is seeking a Safety Coordinator to visit active jobsites, conduct and document safety audits, and train field crews. This is a hands-on role for someone who can work independently, build trust with superintendents and foremen, and help crews correct hazards through practical coaching and follow-through.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct documented safety audits at active jobsites and prepare clear reports on findings and recommended corrective actions.

  • Partner with superintendents, foremen, and crews to address hazards and follow up on outstanding items.

  • Deliver practical safety training for field crews, including new-hire training as project needs arise.

  • Participate in morning jobsite meetings and communicate regularly with safety leadership while working independently in the field.

  • Explain the reasons behind safe work practices in a way crews can understand and apply on the job.

Must-have qualifications

  • Practical knowledge of construction safety and the ability to recognize jobsite hazards and explain how to address them.

  • Ability to conduct and document field safety audits and deliver clear, practical training to construction crews.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with field employees and supervisors across different jobsites.

  • Dependability and the ability to manage a changing travel schedule, report to jobsite meetings on time, and complete assignments with limited day-to-day supervision.

  • Working computer skills, including writing professional emails, formatting Microsoft Word documents, and preparing clear electronic reports.

  • Ability to travel nationwide and work the rotation described above.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bilingual English and Spanish, with the ability to conduct safety training and answer crew questions in both languages.

  • Field safety experience on heavy civil construction projects.

  • OSHA 500 training or a relevant construction safety credential.

Travel schedule and pay structure

The standard rotation is 17 days out and 4 days home. A typical trip runs 15–17 days, with assignments and travel dates adjusted as project and training needs change. You’ll fly or drive based on the assignment. Candidates can be based anywhere in the United States.

  • Base salary: $100,000–$120,000 annually, depending on experience.

  • Annual bonus: Discretionary bonus eligibility.

  • Lodging and transportation: Company-paid hotels and business travel, with a company truck and fuel provided.

  • Meal per diem: $40 per day while traveling, separate from company-paid lodging.

To apply, submit your résumé and briefly describe your field safety experience, crew training background, and availability for the travel rotation. Applications will be handled confidentially. Feel free to contact me directly, [email protected]
