Role Summary
The Staff Engineer owns and delivers wet process module execution for advanced NAND, translating device and integration requirements into robust process windows and control strategies, and driving cross‑functional actions to close yield, reliability, and cost gaps. Holds strong module ownership, leading complex experiments and driving cross‑functional closure of process issues. Acts as a technical contributor who can lead teams/sites/suppliers on complex projects within their module scope.
Main Responsibilities
Process Development & Margin Improvement
- Own process characterization and recipe/process optimization to meet yield/quality requirements for advanced NAND technologies.
- Quantify benefits of new chemistries, process sequences, or equipment changes and drive early adoption to improve margin and manufacturability.
- Independently lead experiments to widen process windows and validate next‑node solutions.
Cross‑functional Integration & Troubleshooting
- Lead cross‑functional troubleshooting and integration activities to improve yield and quality; translate future device needs into process requirements.
- Coordinate with global TD peers (including Boise) on node choices and portability/transfer readiness.
Innovation / IP / Supplier Engagement
- Drive portions of research, hardware evaluations, and novel application testing; contribute to patents/technical papers where applicable.
- Lead or represent wet process in supplier discussions supporting breakthrough solutions.
Monitoring, Control & Documentation (Governance)
- Identify and drive process simplification opportunities; integrate best‑known manufacturing methods into early development.
- Design and implement advanced monitoring and control methodologies within module scope.
- Lead teams/sites/suppliers in quality/yield improvement meetings and ensure clear technical documentation and compliance with IP policy.
Other Responsibilities
- Integrates AI‑assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
- Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI‑enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work
Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
- PhD ≥3 yrs, or Master’s ≥5 yrs, or Bachelor’s ≥7 yrs of relevant experience in
Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field,
- Strong foundation in chemistry, chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transport.
Must‑have Technical Skills
- DOE / SPC and data analysis systems (e.g., Y3) to analyze experimental outcomes.
- Working knowledge of memory process flow (planar + vertical NAND context).
Must‑have Soft Skills
- Cross‑functional collaboration, concise communication, and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
