Senior Transport Planner

SLR’s Cardiff transport planning team provides advice to clients across sectors including residential, commercial, retail and energy on projects ranging from new settlements to small scale landowner developments. We work across the private and public sectors.

We are an agile team – with our wider work extending across the UK in partnership and collaboration with our national colleagues.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport professional to join at Senior Transport Planner grade, to assist with both project delivery, and with client and project management activities within the Cardiff office.

The Role

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the delivery of a wide range of transport assessments and related work using your detailed knowledge and experience of recognised transport appraisal techniques. Duties will be varied but responsibilities are likely to include:

• Use professional judgement and personal initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions
• Deliver Vision Led Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans
• Develop client relationships to ensure the securing of work and negotiate fee proposals
• Plan and carry out client engagement activities with the full support of the wider team
• Ensuring the profitability of designated projects with support of Project Directors
• Continue to update personal knowledge of relevant technical, legal and policy changes

About You

• Relevant degree (or higher) level qualification and membership of a relevant professional body (MCIHT or similar)
• Demonstrable experience at a comparable level within transport planning in a consultancy or similar environment
• Proven project delivery capabilities, along with client management skills
• Strong software modelling capabilities on relevant software packages, e.g. JUNCTIONS/ LINSIG.
