Hours of Work: Up to 25 hours weekly between Monday and Thursday, 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

INTRODUCTION: Human Resources will screen applications and supplemental questionnaires. Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements will be forwarded to the hiring department for further review. The ideal candidate for this position is a current college student enrolled in an undergraduate degree program related to Life and/or Environmental Sciences.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under general supervision, performs routine to moderately difficult laboratory procedures to support water quality laboratory functions; cleans, decontaminates and sterilizes glassware and equipment; prepares media and reagents; assists in the laboratory's quality assurance program; and performs related duties as assigned.

NOTE: The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.

ELIGIBILITY/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences or a closely related field
- Current enrollment with a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (undergraduate level) or 3 credit hours per semester (graduate level)
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Available to work up to 25 hours weekly
- A valid Nevada driver’s license
- Legal right to work in the US, including authorization to work off-campus
