Key Responsibilities
As the Service Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the service department, ensuring efficient workflow, exceptional customer support, and strong operational performance across shop, field, and resident service teams.
Service Operations & Workflow Management
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the service department, including workflow coordination for foremen, lead hands, service writers, and mechanics.
- Oversee service scheduling and ensure work orders are completed efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.
- Prepare customer quotes, open and close work orders, and support timely resolution of customer equipment concerns.
- Inspect and operate customer equipment as part of diagnostics and troubleshooting processes.
Financial & Performance Management
- Develop and manage the Service Department budget to support operational and financial objectives.
- Monitor monthly service revenues and expenses while identifying opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Ensure reporting practices, operational standards, and company policies are consistently followed across the department.
Leadership & Team Development
- Build and maintain a high-performing service team through effective hiring, training, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Conduct ongoing employee performance reviews and provide constructive feedback aligned with departmental goals.
- Foster a collaborative, safe, and accountable workplace culture focused on continuous improvement and employee success.
Customer Service & Technical Support
- Maintain strong customer relationships by delivering professional, responsive, and solution-focused service support.
- Apply technical expertise and critical thinking to effectively resolve customer, operational, and personnel challenges.
- Ensure all work is performed according to established safety regulations and industry standards.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:
Education & Experience:
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in service, management, and business operations within the agriculture equipment industry.
- Journeyperson agriculture mechanic experience combined with 3+ years of management or supervisory experience is considered a strong asset.
- Solid knowledge of heavy-duty equipment dealership operations and service department functions.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and achieve operational goals.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with desktop and web-based productivity applications related to service operations and reporting.
- Strong diagnostic and technical problem-solving skills related to heavy equipment service and repair.
- Ability to travel to customer worksites and safely work on or around heavy equipment.
- Valid driver’s license with a recent driver’s abstract required.
