Description
Are you creative, organized, and passionate about working with children? The City of Lake Forest is seeking an After School Enrichment Coordinator – Rec Instructor to help plan, prepare, and lead engaging after school enrichment programs through the Parks & Recreation Department.
This part-time role is responsible for developing curriculum, preparing lesson plans, teaching daily activities, supporting program operations, and helping create a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for participants. The After School Enrichment Coordinator also supports supplemental programming, including School Days Off enrichment opportunities.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, leading creative and age-appropriate activities, and helping students learn, explore, and have fun in a structured after school setting.

- Develop and implement curriculum, lesson plans, and daily enrichment activities for after school programs and supplemental programming
- Provide in-classroom teaching, leadership, and active supervision of participants
- Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, organized, and engaging classroom environment
- Provide daily direction and support to program support staff, including reviewing activities, expectations, and participant needs
- Coordinate classroom setup, cleanup, materials, supplies, and purchasing within the approved program budget
- Communicate with parents and guardians by phone, email, or in person regarding program information, questions, or concerns
- Serve as a liaison with building leadership staff to help ensure program space is secured and ready for use
- Model and enforce applicable school, City, and program rules, policies, safety expectations, and behavior standards
- Produce a monthly newsletter to share program updates and information with families
- May assist with City, department, and community special events as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with children required; experience in a classroom, enrichment, recreation, camp, or after school setting preferred
- Knowledge of child development, age-appropriate activities, and positive behavior guidance
- Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and provide direction and support to program staff
- Ability to communicate effectively with participants, parents/guardians, staff, and supervisors
- Ability to maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized program environment
- Part-time position
- After school hours, with additional opportunities during School Days Off programming and special events
- Benefits: IMRF, paid time off
- The After School Program will follow the same schedule as District 67
