Bering’s is hiring a Seasonal Sales Associate for our Gift Shop at 6102 Westheimer Road in Houston. 

This is a seasonal-to-hire opportunity for a customer-focused retail professional who enjoys helping customers find thoughtful, distinctive gifts and delivering the warm, personalized service for which Bering’s is known.

Bering’s is a family-owned Houston institution, serving customers since 1940 with a curated collection of distinctive home goods, gifts, tabletop, kitchenware, seasonal merchandise, and more. Our Westheimer location is a one-of-a-kind retail destination where exceptional service, product knowledge, and meaningful customer relationships matter.

Bering’s is seeking a warm, service-minded Seasonal Sales Associate to join our Gift Shop team at our flagship Westheimer store. This seasonal-to-hire opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys helping customers find thoughtful gifts, appreciates distinctive merchandise, and delivers hospitality that makes each visit feel personal. 

What You’ll Do

As a Seasonal Sales Associate in the Gift Shop, you will help create an exceptional shopping experience during our busiest seasonal period. You will:

• Greet and engage customers with a friendly, polished, and personalized approach.
• Listen to customer needs and provide thoughtful gift recommendations based on the occasion, recipient, preferences, and budget.
• Build product knowledge across Gift Shop merchandise, including seasonal gifts, tabletop, home décor, entertaining pieces, and specialty items.
• Use consultative selling techniques to recommend complementary items and create memorable gifting solutions.
• Maintain attractive, organized, fully stocked merchandise displays and support seasonal visual presentations.
• Assist with replenishment, go-backs, receiving, stocking, pricing, and basic inventory activities.
• Process transactions accurately and support a smooth customer checkout experience.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming sales floor and stockroom.
• Support holiday events, promotions, high-volume sales periods, and other store needs.
• Collaborate with Gift Shop teammates and provide support to other departments as business needs require.

The Gift Shop has been part of the Bering’s experience since 1971 and continues to serve customers celebrating weddings, holidays, birthdays, and everyday occasions. 

Requirements

The successful candidate is customer-focused, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced specialty retail environment.

Required Qualifications

• Prior customer service experience; retail experience strongly preferred.
• A genuine interest in helping customers and providing high-quality, relationship-based service.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn and confidently communicate product features, benefits, care instructions, and gifting ideas.
• Basic math, point-of-sale, and computer skills.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a professional presentation.
• Ability to work a flexible seasonal schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak retail periods.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift or carry up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

 Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in luxury, specialty, gift, home décor, tabletop, or other premium retail environments.
• Experience with consultative selling, clienteling, or relationship-based customer service.
• Familiarity with merchandising, inventory support, and POS systems.
• An appreciation for distinctive gifts, entertaining, home goods, and seasonal merchandise.

Bering’s Westheimer location is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Seasonal associates should be prepared for variable schedules based on store traffic, events, and holiday business needs.
