POSITION SUMMARY:
The Property Services Technician for Dismas Charities supports the Regional Property Services Manager in keeping the centers and the corporate office safe, clean, and in good working order. This role performs routine repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and general upkeep under the direction of the Regional Property Services Manager, while building trade skills and gaining experience across locations.
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists with repairs to building structures, plumbing, electrical, appliances, and HVAC systems, and completes basic repairs such as replacing light bulbs, filters, fixtures and patching and painting walls.
- Participates in regular facility walk-throughs and routine preventive maintenance checks and promptly reports potential safety concerns to the Regional Property Services Manager.
- Assists third-party contractors on site by providing access, materials, and basic help as directed by the Regional Property Services Manager.
- Records completed repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory in the maintenance logs.
- Provides regular updates to the Regional Property Services Manager regarding task status and urgent facility needs.
- Helps monitor supply levels, stocks materials, and submit supply requests to the Regional Property Services Manager in compliance with corporate purchasing procedures.
- Supports multiple centers by completing assigned tasks on site as directed.
- Moves furniture and assists with event setup at the corporate office and local venues.
- Participates in on-the-job training and safety instruction provided by the Regional Property Services Manager.
- Travels to local centers as assigned. Occasional overnight travel to out-of-town facilities, as needed.
- Rotational on call responsibilities throughout the year.
- Performs other facility support duties as assigned by the Regional Property Services Manager or Director of Property Services.
SKILLS
- Technical Proficiency
- Ability to perform general facilities maintenance tasks, including drywall patching and finishing, interior and exterior painting, and basic carpentry.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions to complete repairs and recognize when a problem should be reported.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- Administration & Coordination
- Basic computer skills for email, logging tasks, and simple reporting.
- Good organizational skills to complete assigned tasks in order of priority, including urgent repairs.
- Clear communication skills for working with the Regional Property Services Manager and center staff.
- Equipment Operation
- Safe operation of company vehicles and forklift, only after receiving training and authorization.
- Ability to safely use lawn maintenance and snow removal equipment, if needed.
QUALIFICATIONS /REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Five years of experience in facility maintenance or a related field is preferred; entry-level candidates with a strong willingness to learn may be considered.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to local Centers as required.
- Trade certification is not required, however interest in pursuing training or certification in a relevant trade is encouraged.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those required of an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. To perform this job successfully, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling. The employee must be able to climb ladders safely, work at elevated heights, and maintain the physical stamina to use tools and outdoor equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is exposed to both indoor and outdoor environments. Work may be performed in controlled office temperatures or outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
