Description
About the Role
Data has become one of the most important assets in modern organisations, and increasingly one of the most scrutinised. This role provides the opportunity to shape how BOQ governs, protects and derives value from that asset.
As Head of Data Governance, you will lead the enterprise agenda for data governance, data quality, critical data elements, lineage, privacy and lifecycle management. You will establish the standards, controls and evidence that ensure data is not only available, but trusted, explainable and defensible.
This is a highly visible leadership role that sits at the intersection of business, risk, technology and regulation. You will work closely with executives, business leaders, data owners and risk partners to build a governance model that enables delivery rather than constrains it, ensuring accountability sits where data is created, managed and used.
You will also play a critical role in strengthening enterprise accountability for data. Working closely with business data owners, stewards and executives, you will ensure governance obligations are understood, owned and embedded within day-to-day decision-making. Through clear standards, transparent reporting and continuous improvement, you will help lift data quality,
strengthen control effectiveness and ensure the organisation remains well positioned to meet evolving business, regulatory and AI-related obligations.
With significant executive engagement and exposure to Executives, Audit and regulatory stakeholders, this is a rare opportunity to influence enterprise-wide outcomes while redefining what modern, pragmatic and value-focused data governance looks like.
About You
We're looking for a collaborative and influential leader who understands how effective governance creates confidence, accelerates decision-making and enables better business outcomes.
You will bring experience leading enterprise data governance, data quality, risk or regulatory programs within complex environments, coupled with the ability to influence stakeholders across business, technology and risk functions. You understand how to balance control and compliance requirements with the need for agility, practicality and delivery.
You will have experience establishing governance frameworks, driving accountability across diverse stakeholder groups, and providing clear visibility of data quality, lineage and risk. Equally important is your ability to communicate complex data concepts in commercial terms and build credibility with executives, auditors and regulators.
We are particularly interested in leaders with experience across data governance, data quality, privacy, critical data elements, lineage, control frameworks, data risk management and regulatory engagement. Experience operating in highly regulated industries and supporting modern data and AI environments will be highly valued.
Most importantly, you will be a leader who brings sound judgement, integrity and curiosity, someone who can challenge constructively, simplify complexity and help create a culture where accountability for data is embedded across the organisation.
