Job Summary

This is a unique, high-visibility opportunity for a highly analytical, intellectually curious, and exceptional communicator to work at the center of one of the nation's largest electric transmission businesses. The successful candidate will serve as a direct report to the Managing Director of Transmission Finance while simultaneously working with the President of AEP Transmission and members of the Transmission Leadership Team.

Unlike traditional finance or planning roles, this position provides unparalleled exposure to executive leadership, strategic decision-making, Board-level communications, and enterprise-wide business planning. The individual will play a key role in helping shape and communicate the strategic narrative of the Transmission business by translating complex business information into clear, compelling insights for senior executives, the AEP Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.

This role is ideal for candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving complex problems, and are energized by working directly with executive leadership on issues that influence the future direction of the business.

Job Description

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner across Transmission, Distribution, Human Resources, Finance, and other corporate organizations to gather, validate, and synthesize critical business information.
  • Identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities and translate findings into concise executive-level insights and recommendations.
  • Support executive decision-making through the development of clear, actionable reporting and analytics.
  • Serve as a primary author and coordinator for monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc presentations delivered by the President of AEP Transmission.
  • Develop Board-level materials, executive briefings, conference presentations, strategic updates, and other high-profile communications.
  • Convert large volumes of complex technical, operational, financial, and strategic information into compelling narratives that are easily understood by diverse audiences.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and executive-level quality across all materials presented to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the ongoing development, refresh, and advancement of non-financial components of the Transmission Annual Plan.
  • Collaborate closely with the SVP Finance of Transmission and senior leadership to align strategic priorities, performance metrics, and business objectives.
  • Assist in evaluating strategic initiatives, organizational priorities, and business transformation opportunities.
  • Drive special projects and executive requests that support the long-term success of the Transmission organization.

What Makes this Role Unique:

  • Direct exposure to the President of AEP Transmission and the Transmission Leadership Team.
  • Opportunity to influence discussions presented to the AEP Board of Directors.
  • Visibility into virtually every aspect of the Transmission business, including strategy, operations, finance, workforce planning, and enterprise initiatives.
  • A unique platform for accelerating professional growth through direct interaction with senior executive leaders.
  • Opportunity to build relationships across multiple businesses and corporate functions throughout AEP.
  • Broad executive exposure that can serve as a launching point for future leadership opportunities.

What We’re Looking For:

Manager, Transmission Finance (Salary Grade 10)

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Communications, or a related field.

Required Experience:

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to distill complex information into clear, concise, and compelling messages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Executive presence and the ability to interact effectively with senior leaders.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting C-suite or senior executive leaders within a large organization.
  • Background in Investor Relations, Corporate Strategy, Management Consulting, Mergers & Acquisitions, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Executive Communications, or Technical Writing.
  • Experience developing Board of Director materials, executive presentations, or strategic communications.
  • Advanced PowerPoint storytelling and executive presentation development skills.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-performance environments with significant executive visibility.

The preferred talent will have:

The ideal candidate is equal parts strategist, communicator, and problem solver. They are comfortable operating with ambiguity, quickly absorbing large amounts of information, and transforming complex topics into compelling stories that drive understanding and action. They are highly responsive, thrive under tight deadlines, and are motivated by the opportunity to work side-by-side with executive leadership on some of the most important initiatives facing the business.

This role offers a rare opportunity to become a trusted partner to senior leadership while gaining firsthand exposure to the strategic, operational, and financial decisions that shape the future of AEP Transmission.
