What You Will Do

  • Produce technically sound computer aided design models and blueprints for equipment used in the assembly, disassembly, and inspection of Pratt & Whitney engine products.
  • Adhere to the Assembly Equipment Engineering standards and procedures, following ASME Y14.5 standards for the production of quality blueprints.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering mechanics, statics, and strength of materials to perform comprehensive structural analysis of assembly equipment designs. Analysis may include both classical methods of hand calculations and/or creation of finite element models (FEM) for detailed finite element analysis (FEA) using Ansys Workbench.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during product development while effectively prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring clear communication in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mentor junior and new engineers in learning and developing accurate and correct modeling, drafting and analysis methods and techniques.
  • Travel is up to 10%.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 8 years of engineering experience or an Advanced Degree in with 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with mechanical design, drafting and engineering review within manufacturing, industrial or assembly equipment environments.
  • Experience reviewing designs for manufacturability, tolerance stack-ups, fit/function, and assembly sequencing.
  • Experience with CAD modeling and drafting software (NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Experience with a FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software and structural analysis methods.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with Aerospace hardware product definition (blueprints).
  • Background in aerospace, medical device, automotive or other high-precision industries.
  • Knowledge and experience to evaluate machining feasibility, welding and fastening methods, and material selections (metals, plastics, purchased items, etc.)
  • Familiarity with drawing release processes, revision control, and configuration management.
  • Experience with NX modeling software or equivalent.
  • Experience with ANSYS Workbench or equivalent software.
  • Experience with writing engineering reports.
  • Experience with Teamcenter.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
