H&K Tool & Machine Company is seeking a Quality Control Inspector. The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting and evaluating tools and products to ensure they meet established quality standards, specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards. This position identifies defects or quality issues, accurately documents inspection results, and supports consistent compliance with company quality procedures. Essential responsibilities include:
- Inspect raw materials, parts, subassemblies, and finished products throughout the manufacturing process using physical inspection methods, mechanical measuring equipment, and CMM equipment. Independently select and apply appropriate inspection methods and measurement equipment based on drawing, tolerance, and inspection requirements.
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of precision-machined parts and tools to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, inspection plans, and other technical documentation to determine inspection requirements.
- Escalate ambiguous, conflicting, or incomplete drawing, specification, or inspection requirements before product acceptance or release.
- Document and maintain inspection results in strict accordance with customer and company requirements; review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including required traceability to the applicable part, drawing/revision, job or lot, and customer requirements.
- Ensure product compliance with established quality standards and specifications while supporting committed production and delivery schedules.
- Generate Certificates of Conformance (C of C's) and other quality documents, including Quality Assurance Records of Inspection and inspection reports.
- Maintain and support the established Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 requirements.
- Prepare for and support internal and external quality audits by providing required records, documentation, and information.
- Work proactively with Production, Engineering, and other departments to identify, clarify, investigate, and correct quality issues and concerns.
- Identify, document, and control nonconforming product in accordance with established procedures, including segregation or hold requirements as applicable, to prevent unintended use or release; assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate inspection equipment and calibration records and ensure measuring equipment remains within required calibration intervals.
- Assist with improving inspection methods, quality procedures, and manufacturing processes to promote product quality, consistency, and compliance.
Highly qualified individuals will possess all or most of the following:
- 3+ years of hands-on quality inspection experience in a precision machining or manufacturing environment, including first article, in-process, and final inspection.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management requirements applicable to inspection and quality records.
- Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) experience required (operation, setup, and/or programming).
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to determine product conformity.
- Experience with standard mechanical equipment including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, gages, and surface indicators.
- Ability to read and interpret working blueprints and customer technical specifications.
- Microsoft Office Product (Word, Excel, Outlook) experience required.
- Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 49 pounds, with or without accommodation.
- Strong organizational skills and communication proficiency in the English language.
