Description

As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer criminal history background check, physical examination and drug screen. All employees must also submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

Job Description

Correctional Cadets are responsible for attending all required training classes and actively engaging in all classroom and hands on activities. Correctional Cadets will receive training that will prepare them for work as a full-time Correctional Specialist in the Wyandotte County Adult Detention Center. All Correctional Cadets are a representative of the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office just as any other employee. It is expected that Correctional Cadets will conduct themselves in a professional manner while at the Sheriff’s Office and also while in their personal time. Correctional Cadets may have the opportunities to assist Sheriff Deputies and staff in civilian activities to include community engagement and recruitment events. This position will also provide an opportunity to learn entry level skills such as customer service, work ethic and self-discipline. Participants will earn $15 per hour plus school credits towards graduation. Classes will meet 3-4 times per week for around four hours a day.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Senior (12th grade) at any Wyandotte County High School (Bonner Springs, Turner, Piper, USD 500 schools) in good standing academically and behaviorally.

Citizen of the United States.

Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
