Description
The Opportunity:
Underwater breathing apparatus readiness directly supports operational capability and diver safety. You know that successful fielding requires more than delivering equipment, it requires disciplined maintenance planning, technical training, configuration control, stakeholder coordination, and sustained support throughout the equipment lifecycle. In this role, you will support Department of the Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) underwater breathing apparatus programs by providing technical expertise in Mk 16, and other diving life-support systems.
What You'll Work On:
- Perform or oversee depot-level inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, certification, and quality-assurance actions for Mk 16 systems and other EOD Diving and Life Support Equipment.
- Deliver maintainer instruction covering equipment preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection criteria, and safety requirements.
- Maintain compliance with technical manuals, maintenance requirements, configuration-control procedures, oxygen-system safety requirements, and quality-assurance standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, logisticians, instructors, operational users, and program stakeholders to resolve technical and sustainment issues affecting life-support-system readiness.
- Support the evaluation of post-fielding operational use to identify areas for improvement in future fielding phases.
Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
- 8+ years of experience supporting military diving, underwater breathing apparatus, life-support systems, or comparable high-reliability technical systems
- Experience performing depot-level maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, certification, or quality-assurance functions for Mk 16 closed-circuit rebreather systems
- Experience with oxygen-cleanliness procedures, high-pressure oxygen systems, contamination control, and associated safety requirements
- Experience applying technical manuals, maintenance instructions, quality-assurance requirements, and configuration-control procedures
- Experience developing or delivering technical instruction, operator training, maintainer training, or train-the-trainer programs
- Experience coordinating with operational units, maintenance activities, logistics personnel, program offices, or original equipment manufacturers
- Ability to communicate technical findings, maintenance risks, readiness impacts, and sustainment recommendations to technical and nontechnical stakeholders
- Ability to travel to fleet, depot, training, and fielding locations up to 25% of the time
- Secret clearance
- HS diploma or GED
Nice If You Have:
- Experience as a Navy Diver, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician, or member of a special operations diving community
- Experience as a Mk 16 technician, supervisor, instructor, or depot-level maintenance technician
- Experience serving as a maintenance QA representative, work-center supervisor, course supervisor, or Master Training Specialist
- Experience with Navy maintenance-management systems, including SKED or comparable readiness and maintenance-tracking tools
- Experience supporting materiel fielding plans, equipment transition, fleet logistics, lifecycle sustainment, or phased capability rollouts
- Experience with oxygen-cleanliness procedures, high-pressure oxygen systems, contamination control, and associated safety requirements
- Experience reviewing and revising technical manuals, maintenance instructions, quality-assurance requirements, and configuration-control procedures
