Description
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team on a fixed-term contract ending Jan 2028, helping deliver an accurate, compliant and seamless payroll experience for MECCA team members across Australia and New Zealand.
Playing an important role within our broader People team, you’ll combine strong payroll expertise with sound judgement and a passion for service, supporting our Distribution Centre, New Zealand and Aesthetica teams while helping us continuously improve the way payroll is delivered across MECCA.
The Role You Could Play:
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you’ll coordinate and deliver end-to-end payroll activities across the team member lifecycle while providing guidance and support to the broader Payroll team. You will:
- Deliver accurate, timely and compliant end-to-end payroll processing across Australia and New Zealand, with a focus on our Distribution Centre, New Zealand and Aesthetica teams
- Manage payroll activities across the team member lifecycle, including onboarding, remuneration changes, leave, allowances, deductions, benefits and terminations
- Complete payroll reconciliations, quality checks, month-end and year-end activities, statutory reporting and audit requirements
- Resolve complex payroll enquiries and provide day-to-day coaching and technical guidance to Payroll Officers and Administrators
- Identify and implement opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen controls and improve payroll systems and the overall team member experience
What You Will Bring:
You are an experienced payroll professional who combines exceptional attention to detail with a genuine service mindset. Comfortable navigating complexity and competing deadlines, you enjoy solving problems, supporting others and continuously improving the way things are done. Ideally, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in a senior or complex payroll role, ideally with at least three years’ end-to-end payroll experience within a multi-site organisation
- Strong practical knowledge of Australian and New Zealand payroll requirements, including taxation, PAYG, Single Touch Payroll, superannuation, KiwiSaver, leave legislation and relevant industrial instruments
- Experience completing payroll reconciliations, general ledger journals, month-end and year-end activities, statutory reporting and audit support
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with advanced Excel skills and confidence using enterprise payroll, HCM and time-and-attendance systems; Workday, Ento, HR3 or SQL experience is advantageous
- Clear and confident communication skills, sound judgement and discretion, with the ability to coach others, build trusted stakeholder relationships and manage sensitive information
