Description
Ascending.ltd is a manpower service provider that serves clients in various areas including in oil and gas.
We are currently looking for an experienced Electrician to work onboard of a M/V in Guyana.
Work Location: Suriname - Guyana
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and identify root causes of equipment failures.
- Install, test and commission electrical equipment and systems.
- Maintain electrical motors, generators, transformers, switchboards and distribution systems.
- Maintain lighting systems, emergency lighting and electrical panels.
- Inspect and maintain electrical cables, cable trays and cable glands.
- Test electrical circuits and equipment using appropriate test instruments.
- Perform insulation resistance and continuity tests.
- Maintain electrical control panels and motor control centres (MCC).
- Assist with maintenance of variable frequency drives (VFDs) and soft starters.
- Maintain electrical equipment associated with pumps, compressors, HVAC systems and other rotating equipment.
- Perform maintenance on hazardous-area electrical equipment where qualified.
- Ensure correct operation of emergency power systems.
- Assist with generator and power-generation system maintenance.
- Carry out electrical isolations and LOTO procedures.
- Participate in Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
- Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA/JHA) and toolbox meetings.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
- Report equipment defects and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure electrical work complies with applicable safety standards.
- Participate in emergency response and offshore safety drills.
- Support inspection and certification activities.
- Maintain good housekeeping in electrical rooms, workshops and work areas.
- Comply with company HSE, environmental and quality policies.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Electrical Supervisor or Maintenance Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Diploma/Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, Industrial Electrical Systems or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience as an Electrician in industrial, marine or offshore environments.
- Knowledge of electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of electrical safety and isolation procedures.
- Valid offshore medical fitness certificate.
- Valid offshore survival training, such as BOSIET/FOET with EBS, or applicable equivalent.
- Valid passport.
- STCW Basic Safety Training
- Security Awareness / DSDC
- Relevant electrical training certificates.
Experience
3–5 years of electrical maintenance experience, with:
- At least 2 years of offshore experience, preferably.
- Oil & Gas experience preferred.
- FPSO/platform/drilling rig experience advantageous.
- Experience with industrial electrical systems.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical faults.
- Experience with electrical maintenance management systems such as SAP, Maximo or similar is advantageous.
