Description

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Instructor (No Teaching Experience Necessary).

CERT, LLC – Northern Virginia (Fairfax / Chantilly).

Position Type: Part-Time / Full-Time / Seasonal.
Compensation: $25.00 – $40.00 per hour (based on experience, qualifications, and instructional performance).

About CERT, LLC:
CERT, LLC is a premier EMT training academy based in Northern Virginia, committed to developing highly competent, professional, and confident entry-level providers. Our programs are known for their intensity, structure, and real-world preparation. We do not aim to be average—we aim to set the standard.

Position Overview:
CERT is seeking motivated, professional, and dependable Virginia Certified EMTs to join our team as Skills Instructors.
This role is designed for EMTs who have a strong understanding of core EMT skills and want to help train the next generation of providers. Prior teaching experience is not required. CERT will provide training, guidance, and support to help selected candidates develop the instructional skills needed to succeed in the classroom, lab, and simulation environment.
Skills Instructors primarily support hands-on learning by demonstrating EMT skills, coaching students through practice, reinforcing proper technique, and helping ensure students build the confidence and competency needed to perform in real patient care environments.
This is more than simply watching students practice. Skills Instructors are expected to be engaged, professional, approachable, and consistent in helping students meet CERT’s standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate EMT skills in accordance with CERT curriculum, standards, and accepted patient care practices.
  • Guide students through hands-on practice in skill labs.
  • Provide clear, direct, and constructive feedback to help students improve.
  • Reinforce proper technique, repetition, critical thinking, communication, and scene leadership.
  • Assist with scenario-based training, practical exercises, and simulation events.
  • Help maintain a structured, professional, and distraction-free learning environment.
  • Encourage students while holding them accountable to performance and conduct expectations.
  • Uphold CERT policies related to attendance, uniforms, professionalism, student conduct, and safety.
  • Collaborate with lead instructors and CERT leadership to maintain a consistent student experience.
  • Attend required instructor orientation, training, and ongoing development sessions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current Virginia EMT certification required.
  • Must have passed the NREMT examination.
  • Adequate knowledge of EMT skills, including patient assessment, vital signs, airway management, CPR, bleeding control, splinting, lifting and moving, medical emergencies, trauma care, and basic operational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain skills clearly and patiently.
  • Professionalism, maturity, reliability, and the ability to work effectively with students and staff.
  • Ability to receive feedback, follow a standardized instructional model, and continue developing as an instructor.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Field experience as an EMT.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, precepting, or leading others.
  • Previous instructional experience, although it is not required.
  • Availability for evening, weekend, or daytime EMT program shifts.

Instructor Training and Development:
Selected candidates do not need to arrive as experienced educators. CERT will train Skills Instructors on how to demonstrate skills, coach students, provide useful feedback, manage lab groups, enforce program standards, and contribute to a consistent learning environment.
Skills Instructors who demonstrate reliability, strong instructional ability, professionalism, and leadership may have opportunities to grow into expanded instructional and leadership roles within CERT.

Work Environment:
Classes are conducted at CERT training facilities in Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax and Chantilly, Virginia.

Opportunities are available across multiple program formats, including:
  • Fast Track daytime programs.
  • Evening Academy.
  • Weekend Academy.
  • Skills labs.
  • Simulation and scenario events.

Why Join CERT:
  • Starting pay is $25 per hour.
  • Gain structured instructor training and mentorship from CERT leadership.
  • Help prepare future EMTs for real-world patient care.
  • Work in a high-energy, hands-on training environment.
  • Build teaching, leadership, communication, and clinical coaching skills.
  • Opportunities may be available for advancement into expanded instructional roles based on performance and experience.

Final Note:
CERT holds both students and instructors to a high standard. This is an opportunity for certified EMTs who are dependable, coachable, professional, and interested in helping others learn.
You do not need prior teaching experience. You do need a strong foundation in EMT skills, a current Virginia EMT certification, and a willingness to learn and uphold CERT’s instructional standards.

Apply Today:
If you are a current Virginia Certified EMT and are interested in helping train future EMTs, we would like to hear from you.
