Description
Quantitative Researcher: Market Manipulation & Market-Making Strategy (Perps)
Plexus has partnered with an early-stage digital asset trading venture building perpetual futures markets for long-tail tokens, where books are thin and prices can be pushed hard in either direction.
We are looking for a Quantitative Researcher to work directly with the founders and engineering team on the math behind their risk and payout framework and the market-making strategy that runs on top of it.
Key Focus Areas
- Attack Pricing: Model pump-and-dump, wash and multi-wallet attacks on thin markets, and find the cheapest attack against each rule.
- Risk & Payout Design: Build rules backed by a provable bound or a simulation.
- Market-Making Strategy: Quoting, inventory, hedging and execution timing where the firm’s own trades move the price.
- Simulation: Monte Carlo and replays of real on-chain incidents, calibrated against history.
- Open Problems: Estimate the probability that a price action or wallet is manipulation, and price the cost of holding a low-cap token at a given level over time.
- AI Research: Define research and review tasks that AI agents can run at scale, with you checking their work.
Ideal Profile
- Experience in quantitative trading, market making, market microstructure, AMMs, perpetuals or mechanism design. Market maker, prop shop, DeFi or MEV background is particularly relevant. Early-career candidates welcome.
- Strong probability, stochastic processes and optimisation.
- Strong Python essential. Solidity reading and on-chain data a plus.
- Attacker-first mindset, a clear writer, and AI-native: you run multiple agents in parallel and verify their output.
Super quick process.
