Description
The work
The SAP Interface SME will be responsible for driving the analysis, design, and development of interfaces between the future-state SAP S/4 solution and external trading partner systems. We are prioritizing "hybrid" resources who possess a rare combination of skills: deep functional understanding of the external agency trading partner systems in-scope, combined with the technical capability to perform the hands-on design, mapping, and building of the interfaces. You will not just write specifications; you will actively drive the engineering lifecycle to connect the agency’s solution to the broader defense ecosystem.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct detailed analysis of legacy interfaces, data formats, and protocols. Design end-to-end integration flows between SAP S/4HANA and external agency trading partners
- Perform hands-on development, configuration, and data mapping using SAP integration technologies (such as SAP Integration Suite / CPI, PO, or legacy PI) and agency-specific protocols
- Partner directly with external trading to align on interface control documents (ICDs), schemas, and testing schedules
- Translate complex business processes (finance, supply chain, asset management) into technical data requirements to ensure transactional integrity across system boundaries
- Lead unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), and partner end-to-end testing
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex interface errors and data mismatches
- Author and maintain high-quality Interface Control Documents (ICDs), technical design specifications, and mapping templates
Here’s what you need
- 6+ years of IT experience with a heavy focus on interface/integration design and development, specifically within a federal ERP environment
- Strong functional understanding of business processes and the external systems that feed into it (e.g., supply, financial, or logistics systems)
- Hands-on experience developing interfaces with SAP integration middleware (SAP PO, CPI/Integration Suite, EDI, ALE/IDocs, BAPIs, and Web Services)
- Familiarity with data formats, transmission protocols (SFTP, AS2), and security/encryption requirements
- Ability to analyze complex legacy COBOL or flat-file interfaces and translate them into modern SAP S/4HANA-compatible designs
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
Eligibility requirements
- US Citizen (no dual citizenship)
- Active Secret clearance
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
