Reports To: Supervising BCBA / Clinical Director
Compensation: $40.00–$47.00 per hour, depending on service type, experience, training, and demonstrated competencies ($47 reserved for provider Credentialed at a level 3 PFA-SBT)
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) to join our clinical team.
The BCaBA works under the ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and supports the assessment, development, implementation, monitoring, and modification of individualized behavior-analytic treatment programs.
The BCaBA may provide direct treatment, support behavioral assessments, assist with clinical programming, analyze participant data, provide caregiver training within their scope and payer requirements, and provide training, modeling, feedback, and oversight to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and other direct-service providers as permitted.
ABA STEPS uses a Scientist-Practitioner Model emphasizing compassionate, trauma-assumed, assent-based, and evidence-based care. Our clinical programming incorporates approaches including Practical Functional Assessment and Skill-Based Treatment (PFA-SBT), PEAK, AIM/ACT, functional communication training, naturalistic teaching, and individualized behavior-analytic programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assessment & Treatment Planning

Assist the supervising BCBA with behavioral and skills assessments within the BCaBA's scope of competence and delegated responsibilities.

Participate in functional behavior assessment processes, including data collection, interviews, direct observation, and other assessment activities.

Support implementation of PFA-SBT, including Practical Functional Assessment and Skill-Based Treatment procedures, when appropriately trained and supervised.

Assist with development and modification of individualized treatment programs based on assessment results and participant needs.

Collect, graph, analyze, and interpret behavioral and skill-acquisition data.
-
Identify patterns in participant performance and communicate clinically relevant findings to the supervising BCBA.

Support treatment-plan updates, progress reports, reassessments, and authorization-related clinical documentation.
Direct Clinical Services
-
Provide individualized ABA treatment within the BCaBA's scope and under appropriate BCBA supervision.

Implement behavior-reduction and skill-acquisition protocols with treatment fidelity.
-
Provide individual and group-based services when clinically appropriate and authorized.
-
Model clinical procedures for RBTs and other treatment-team members.
-
Promote generalization of skills across people, environments, and naturally occurring situations.

Support functional communication, toleration, cooperation, flexibility, social communication, and other medically necessary treatment targets identified in the participant's treatment plan.

Incorporate participant assent and compassionate, trauma-assumed practices into treatment delivery.
RBT Training, Support & Oversight
As permitted by BACB requirements, payer requirements, and the supervising BCBA, the BCaBA may:

Observe RBT implementation of treatment protocols.

Model treatment procedures and behavior-analytic teaching strategies.
-
Provide performance feedback and competency-based coaching.
-
Monitor treatment integrity and procedural fidelity.
-
Assist with RBT training and professional development.
-
Support implementation of behavior-reduction and skill-acquisition programs.
-
Review participant data and identify implementation concerns requiring BCBA involvement.
-
Assist the BCBA in maintaining consistent clinical practices across providers and settings.
-
Participate in competency development and treatment-team meetings.
The BCaBA does not practice independently and works under ongoing BCBA supervision consistent with BACB requirements, applicable law, payer requirements, and ABA STEPS policies.
Caregiver Collaboration & Training

Collaborate professionally with parents, caregivers, and other members of the participant's treatment team.

Provide caregiver training and coaching when delegated and clinically appropriate.
-
Model behavior-analytic strategies for caregivers.
-
Support caregiver implementation and generalization of treatment strategies within naturally occurring routines.

Collect and review caregiver-training data.
-
Communicate caregiver concerns and clinically significant changes to the supervising BCBA.
-
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Data Analysis & Clinical Quality

Review participant data regularly to evaluate treatment response.
-
Identify possible barriers to progress, prompt dependence, treatment-integrity concerns, generalization difficulties, or changes in behavior.

Communicate findings to the supervising BCBA and participate in data-based clinical decision-making.

Assist with treatment-integrity observations and quality-improvement activities.
-
Maintain accurate, objective, and behavior-analytic documentation.
Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities

Complete session notes and other required documentation accurately and within established timelines.
-
Maintain participant records consistent with HIPAA, payer, BACB, and organizational requirements.

Complete data entry, graphing, clinical summaries, and other assigned documentation.

Participate in clinical meetings, case reviews, peer review, and professional-development activities.
-
Maintain required certifications, credentials, training, and supervision documentation.
-
Follow ABA STEPS policies regarding scheduling, attendance, communication, documentation, billing integrity, and professional conduct.
PFA-SBT Professional Development Pathway

Any internal ABA STEPS PFA-SBT designation or certification reflects completion of the organization's professional-development requirements and does not represent or replace BACB certification or any credential issued by the BACB.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must:

Hold an active Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.

Hold the educational qualifications required for current BCaBA certification.

Maintain all required BACB supervision and continuing-education requirements.
-
Practice within the BCaBA scope of competence and under appropriate BCBA supervision.

Demonstrate knowledge of applied behavior analysis and evidence-based behavioral interventions.

Demonstrate competency in data collection, graphing, and interpretation.

Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
-
Demonstrate the ability to receive and incorporate clinical feedback.

Work collaboratively with participants, caregivers, RBTs, BCBAs, and other members of the treatment team.

Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Meet applicable background-check and organizational requirements.

Have reliable transportation and the ability to travel between service locations as required.

Travel
This position may involve travel between the ABA STEPS clinic, participant homes, community locations, schools or other approved service locations. Depending on caseload and scheduling, employees may travel approximately 20–60 miles per day.
