Data Analyst Apprenticeship Programme
Turn Data into Real Business Impact
Ready to earn, learn and launch your career? This is more than your first job. You’ll gain real experience, work towards a recognised qualification and build skills that will shape your future.
Data is at the heart of everything we do. From understanding sales performance to identifying trends in claims data, our Data Science and Analytics team helps colleagues across Howden turn complex information into meaningful insights that drive better business decisions.
As a Data Analyst Apprentice, you'll learn how to work with real business data, uncover patterns, solve problems and create reports and dashboards that make a genuine impact. You'll develop the analytical and technical skills needed to work with data confidently, while learning tools such as Power BI, SQL and Python.
You’ll join Howden on a permanent role and complete an 18-month development programme designed to develop your technical knowledge, professional skills and confidence to kick start your career.
What you’ll be doing?
You will begin with a structured induction before joining our Data Science & Analytics team, where you will work alongside experienced colleagues and gradually take on more responsibility.
During the programme, you'll:
- Gain exposure to both data analytics and data science, helping you understand how analysis, reporting and data models can be used to solve different business problems.
- Support a range of live data projects for different areas of the Retail business.
- Analyse datasets to understand what the information is telling us, looking for patterns, trends, gaps or unusual results that may need further investigation.
- Clean, organise and check data before it is analysed, spotting errors or inconsistencies and helping make sure the information is accurate and reliable.
- Learn how to turn your findings into clear reports for key business stakeholders.
- Build your technical skills by learning to use tools such as Power BI, SQL and Python.

- Attentive to detail, particularly when checking information and identifying errors.
- Able to communicate your ideas clearly and confidently.
- Someone who is keen to collaborate with different people across the business.
- Organised and able to manage several tasks or projects at the same time.

- Have lived permanently in the UK for the last 3 years.
- Have achieved a grade C/4 in GCSE English and B/5 in GCSE Maths.

Application process
Our application process is designed to help you show your potential, not to test what you already know!

- Online gamified assessment: We’ve created games that will help us understand your natural strengths and how you approach different situations. There are no right or wrong answers. You can complete this stage on your phone or laptop, whichever suits you best!

- Assessment centre: Our final stage is an in-person assessment centre at one of our offices. You'll take part in some fun group activities and meet our team in a relaxed setting. This day is all about getting to know you better and for you to see what it's like to be part of Howden and experience our culture.
