We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of AI to lead the development and execution of an enterprise-wide AI strategy that drives innovation, operational efficiency, automation, customer experience, and commercial growth.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the CIO, you will lead the organisation’s AI vision, roadmap, governance, and delivery capability. You will work across technology, operations, product, sales, risk, and executive leadership to identify and implement high-impact AI initiatives that create measurable business value.

This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution and is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments where innovation, governance, and commercial outcomes must coexist.

Key Responsibilities

AI Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and execute the enterprise AI strategy and roadmap
• Drive executive and board-level alignment on AI opportunities, risks, and investment
• Identify and prioritise high-value AI and automation initiatives
• Lead AI governance, policy, and risk management frameworks
• Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies including generative AI, agentic systems, and orchestration platforms

Build AI Capability Across the Business

• Establish and lead an AI Centre of Excellence
• Uplift AI literacy and capability across teams
• Build strong stakeholder relationships across technical and non-technical functions
• Lead change management and adoption of AI-enabled solutions
• Foster innovation and communities of practice across the organisation

AI Engineering & Delivery

• Integrate AI into modern software development practices
• Drive scalable, secure, and resilient AI-enabled architectures
• Improve engineering productivity through AI tooling and automation
• Oversee AI operationalisation, monitoring, model performance, and governance
• Optimise AI tooling, licensing, and infrastructure costs

Security, Risk & Compliance

• Ensure AI solutions meet security, privacy, and regulatory obligations
• Collaborate closely with risk, legal, and compliance teams
• Establish robust governance around explainability, monitoring, auditability, and model risk
• Mitigate risks relating to bias, misuse, data leakage, and adversarial threats

AI Foundations & Data

• Build scalable AI platforms, tooling, and frameworks
• Drive enterprise data strategy and governance
• Improve data quality, accessibility, and infrastructure
• Develop reusable AI services and APIs to accelerate innovation

About You

You are a commercially minded AI leader with deep technical expertise and a proven ability to influence at executive level.

You will bring:

• Extensive experience in AI/ML, including generative AI and large language models
• A strong track record delivering AI solutions at scale within regulated environments
• Expertise across cloud architecture, software engineering, data platforms, and AI operations
• Experience leading cross-functional technical teams and enterprise transformation initiatives
• Strong understanding of AI governance, risk, compliance, and security frameworks
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with the ability to move from concept to production

Experience within financial services, fintech, lending, or similarly regulated industries will be highly regarded.
