Systems Engineer V

TSC is seeking an Systems Engineer in Dahlgren, VA. This position supports the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD).

Responsibilities:

·       Provide systems engineering support for the development of new AEGIS and Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD) baselines.

·       Analyze system performance data and recommend design or performance improvements based on tactical and operational insights.

·       Develop and maintain MATLAB-based tools for data processing and analysis.

·       Support certification processes, flight test missions, and configuration control boards through detailed documentation and status reporting.

·       Assist with operational readiness reporting and baseline certification efforts.

·       Contribute to improvements in data collection methodologies and analytical tools.

Required Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, physics or related technical field and 5 or more years of industry or DoD/DoN experience.

·      ​ US citizenship and an active secret clearance (or higher)

·      Requires a strong understanding of RADAR engineering and physics and how to optimize the detection and tracking of contacts using the SPY 6 RADAR in the AEGIS Weapons System. 

·      The candidate needs to be familiar with testing and development protocol as well as required documentation for program development and system/element qualification and certification.

·       Experience with AEGIS Combat Systems.

·       Strong background in systems engineering, test planning, and performance analysis.

·  Engineering support to determine radar concepts and evaluate feasibility of integrating SPY-6 on foreign ships.

·  Provide radar analysis, generate radar requirements and evaluate compliance of radar concepts.

·  Develop reports and presentations to document and communicate radar concept feasibility.

·  Provide engineering expertise and contribute to technical interchanges and other program planning discussions.

·       Willingness and ability to travel to test and operational sites as needed.

·       Position is required to be onsite 5 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Proficient with MATLAB or equivalent for data analysis.

·       Experience with SCUS, SABE, GICA, and MMSP systems.

·       Familiarity with Fiber Optic Delay Line (FODL) systems.

·       Previous experience supporting Navy or DoD development and test programs.

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical findings.

·       Proven critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
