JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, position assists clients with the activities of daily living to promote maximum independence. Observes and documents on client’s health condition and environment, reports significant and unsafe conditions and provides support and guidance to clients. Support to clients is provided in a way that reflects the guiding principles of Assisted Living - choice, privacy, independence, individuality, dignity and respect. Promotes tenant’s self-direction and personal decision-making. QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Grade 12. Graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program plus one (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Successful completion of a medication management module for community health workers/residential care aides from an accredited educational institution will be required prior to commencing work. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate and First Aid, as required. Current Food Safe Certificate.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to organize and prioritize work.Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Ability to analyze and resolve problems.Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills.Ability to work independently and in co-operation with others.Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.Home management skills.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
