Community Engagement and Leadership Education (CELE) has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Manager for Leadership Education to join their team.  

NOTE: Applications will be reviewed beginning July 27th, 2026.

About this Opportunity 

Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement, the Program Manager for Leadership Education leads the day-to-day implementation of the Husky Leadership Certificate and some CELE Civic Fellowships and Awards. In addition, the Program Manager supports the coordination of other leadership education efforts, including Presidential Scholarship programming, planning or facilitating student leadership trainings or workshops, and convening communities of practice around leadership education for instructors and staff. The range of tasks in this position will include: direct advising with students selected for civic fellowships/scholarships, guiding student reflection on their leadership development, outreach to students and campus partners regarding leadership education programming, managing multiple simultaneous projects, work with faculty/instructors to support leadership education in their classrooms, and management of online systems and web content to enable and support civic leadership learning at the University of Washington. 

This is a student-facing position that is eligible for telework up to two days per week. On campus work location is in Mary Gates Hall.  

This position has received funding through June 30, 2028, and has the possibility of being extended if additional funding is received.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership Programming for General Undergraduate Audience (50%):

  • Oversee and manage implementation of the Husky Leadership Certificate (HLC). 
  • Identify and develop campus partnerships to integrate HLC into existing programs to enhance leadership-focused learning opportunities. 
  • Connect campus partners with one another and build a community of practice around leadership education. 

Civic Fellowship and Award management and student advising (25%):

  • Advise and support student leadership development through civic fellowships and scholarships via ongoing programming that facilitates reflective learning and network building.  

Leadership Education, Student Outreach and Event Coordination (15%):

  • Develop and regularly offer co-curricular programming, workshops and information sessions on civic leadership and leadership education themes.  
  • Play a key role in the growth, development, and integration of civic leadership and leadership education content throughout the undergraduate experience. 

Organizational Culture and Participation (10%):

  • Serve as a thought partner and key collaborator with CELE programs.   
  • Play a key role in developing and maintaining an internal organization culture consistent with CELE Center values and strategic priorities.  
  • Other related duties as assigned.   

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.  
  • Three years of professional experience.

  • Aptitude for developing collaborative relationships with colleagues, faculty, staff, students, and community partners. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and appropriately (through written word and public speaking) with varied stakeholders.  
  • Ability to take initiative in a team-based environment while simultaneously following through on independent projects. 
  • Creative problem-solving skills, ability to balance a variety of time sensitive duties, and flexibility as priorities shift. 
  • Strong organizational skills, creativity, demonstrated attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and manage deadlines across multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Exhibit an appreciation of, sensitivity to, and a respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff of many social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial and ethnic backgrounds. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with college student leadership identity development and programming.  
  • Strong commitment to supporting students’ socially responsible leadership learning and utilizing an equity lens in leadership education programming. 
  • Experience with program development and management.
