ROLE OVERVIEW
To transport students to and from school and other designated sites and ensure the safety of the student passengers while operating a school bus. Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the Transportation Assistant Manager alongside being accountable to the Director of Transportation. As a KIPP ENC school bus driver, you will comply with all NC School Bus Safety laws in accordance with the NC Department of Transportation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uphold the mission and vision of KIPP ENC
- Provide a safe, healthy, consistent, positive, caring environment for children and staff that promotes:
- A positive student culture
- Happy and healthy students and parents
- Establish and maintain effective working relationship with management team and co-workers
- Report to work daily and on time
- Complete Pre and Post Trip bus inspections daily
- Drives safely and efficiently and adheres to all NC traffic laws
- Exercise good judgement and extreme caution while operating a school bus
- Timely report all mechanical issues to the Transportation Assistant Manager or Transportation Manager
- Perform periodical drills as required by state law
- Attend various meetings regarding safety, first aid, and Safe Schools Training online
- Accountable for student management and discipline
- Discuss Bus Expectations with student passengers
- Timely complete Bus Conduct report on student(s) not meeting expectations
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old to lawfully drive a bus
- A minimum of six (6) months of driving experience
- Must have a NC driver's license for a minimum of six (6) months
- No major traffic violations in two (2) years
- Must have a valid NCDL with "P' (Passenger) and "S" (School bus) endorsements
- Must have a valid NCDOT medical card
- Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening
