Job Description Summary

GE Vernova is seeking a STATCOM Reference Solution Technical Leader to join our FACTS team in Tampere, Finland. This role will provide technical leadership for STATCOM reference solutions across the full solution lifecycle, with primary focus on solution architecture, deployment support, regional enablement, technical governance, and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will own and govern the technical architecture and key technical elements of STATCOM reference solutions, enabling consistent, scalable, and high-quality execution across regions. This leader will also provide people leadership to a team of Product Owners and Specialists, supporting prioritization, alignment, coaching, and team development while remaining primarily focused on technical leadership.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Own and govern the technical architecture of STATCOM reference solutions, ensuring consistency, scalability, standardization, and configurability
  • Develop, maintain, and improve engineering documentation, technical guidelines, toolkits, templates, and deployment methodologies to support efficient and repeatable execution
  • Provide technical oversight during ITO and OTR phases, ensuring reference solutions are correctly applied and that technical deviations, gaps, and risks are properly assessed and resolved
  • Support bid and execution teams with solution framing, technical governance, risk reviews, and deployment guidance for major opportunities and strategic projects
  • Act as the go-to technical expert for complex engineering topics, technical arbitration, and high-impact escalations during design, testing, commissioning, and operation
  • Capture return on experience (RoE), lessons learned, and in-service performance feedback, and drive incorporation of those learnings into reference solutions to improve quality, competitiveness, and serviceability
  • Collaborate closely with Solution Delivery Leader and Value Proposition Team to translate evolving market and customer needs into functional solution requirements and continuous solution improvements
  • Support lifecycle management activities including obsolescence management, installed base support, service opportunity development, and alignment with service and supply chain stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and certification expectations across all regions where STATCOM solutions are deployed
  • Provide people leadership for a team of Product Owners/Specialists, including work planning, prioritization, coaching, mentoring, performance support, and development of team capabilities in alignment with business and solution line objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in technical leadership, system architecture, reference solution development, or complex project engineering within a global or multi-region environment
  • Strong understanding of STATCOM systems, power electronics, control and protection systems, grid integration, and power system dynamics
  • Experience supporting multiple phases of the solution lifecycle, including bid support, design, execution, commissioning, and lifecycle support
  • Proven ability to lead technical problem-solving, manage technical risk, and guide teams through complex engineering decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, or coordinate Product Owners, Specialists, or similar technical professionals in a people leadership or matrix leadership capacity
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to work across engineering, product, regional, commercial, and customer teams
  • Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with FACTS, HVDC, or other grid-connected power conversion technologies
  • Experience developing or governing reference solutions, technical standards, design rules, or engineering toolkits in a product-line or solution-line model
  • Experience with customer technical engagement for strategic opportunities, design reviews, and technical negotiations
  • Experience with return on experience processes, lessons learned systems, and continuous improvement programs
