PLUS DIFERRENTIAL PAY
This is entrance level social work in a human service agency. An employee in this class works under the close supervision of an immediate supervisor. Employee in this class can be assigned to any division within the Department. An employee in the class is responsible for the planning and evaluation, support service management and coordination of the work of the Social Workers. Assignments are completed in accordance with departmental policies and the strict guidance of immediate supervisor.Schedules and implements the day-to-day Case Management Activities.Interviews clients and collateral contacts and/or representatives to obtain basic information required, and provides instructions relative to the initial assessment and evaluation process.
Serves as first of point of contact and makes referrals to social workers, other divisions/unit, agencies, departments and non-profits as needed to provide information, assistance, referral and counseling to clients that will assist clients and/or their families in identifying available service providers relative to their specific needs.
Monitors clients and makes contacts with families, including collateral contacts to coordinate/integrate all required services which may include accompanying clients to various type appointments under close and immediate supervision.
Assists social workers with group sessions and assists with the development of programs and services.
Maintains and reviews confidential information regarding personal, medical and social information collected.
Develops a tracking system for high-risk clients/families.
Participates in regularly scheduled Case Reviews/Conferences with other clinical or support services staff to assess if all aspects of the patients' plans are met.
Completes client progress notes, case reviews, written documentation of services and weekly and monthly activity reports detailing number of clients seen and referrals made.
Performs other related duties as required.B.A. or B.S. in social science field.
FACTOR 1- KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of social work and various social, psychological, economic ,and emotional factors influencing the behaviors and attitudes of individuals and families.
Knowledge of human developmental theory and psychology as it relates to the social adjustments of clients.
Knowledge of departmental rules and policies
Knowledge of community resources
Knowledge of program evaluation methods
Ability to resolve conflicts
Ability to elicit pertinent information from people and relate such information into a helpful course of action by exercising tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with clients, co-workers, and person outside of the department.
Ability to present ideas and information clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective counseling relationship with clients and all those contacted during course of work.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid Virgin Islands Driver's License.
FACTOR 2 - SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
Close supervision is administered by supervisor; however the employee must use his/her education and sound judgment in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the position. Work reviewed through meetings, conferences, and approaches taken to handle caseload when pertinent.
FACTOR 3 - GUIDELINES
Guidelines include federal, local and departmental policies and procedures, the Virgin Islands Statutes, directives and executive orders and federal laws and regulations as well as behavioral, psychological, social work and intervention textbooks, manuals, periodicals.
FACTOR 4 - COMPLEXITIES
This is beginning level case work which involves planning and providing case management and intervention to minimally complex cases involving social, physical and emotional problems.
FACTOR 5 - SCOPES AND EFFECT
The purpose of this work is to perform preliminary assessments, investigation and evaluation, to assist in providing support services and; provide clients with service plan and case management for treatment of social, physical and emotional issues.
FACTOR 6 - PERSONAL CONTACTS
Requires frequent internal and external contacts with clientele, program personnel, agencies and organizations within the assigned geographic area and employing collaborative efforts to provide services and obtain information.
FACTOR 7 - PURPOSE OF CONTACTS
Work has moderate impact on the agency's effort to provide extension services to targeted client populations. Networking and collaborating with community resources will facilitate case management and facilitate community outreach projects.
FACTOR 8 - PHYSICAL DEMANDS
There are some physical demands at times in order to access the effectiveness of the program such as having to conduct home visits, client's assessment and customer satisfaction surveys.
FACTOR 9 - WORK ENVIRONMENTS
Work is performed in an office setting with field work required.
