Maine Veterans' Homes is seeking compassionate and dependable Personal Support Specialists (PSS) or Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to join our Residential Care team. Whether you are a PSS or CNA, you'll play a vital role in helping our residents live safely, comfortably, and with dignity.
Available Shifts
Day Shift: 6:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Evening Shift: 2:45 p.m. – 11:15 p.m.
Position Summary
As a PSS or CNA, you will provide compassionate, resident-centered care by assisting with activities of daily living while promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life. Working alongside nurses and other caregivers, you'll help create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for the veterans entrusted to our care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and other activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Support resident mobility, transfers, positioning, and ambulation
- Assist with meals, hydration, and feeding as needed
- Observe residents and report changes in condition to the nursing team
- Provide companionship, emotional support, and meaningful interactions
- Maintain accurate documentation
- Follow all safety, infection prevention, and resident care policies
- Work collaboratively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
Qualifications
- Current Maine CNA certification or Maine Personal Support Specialist (PSS) certification required
- Compassionate, dependable, and resident-focused
- Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally and in writing, in English, is required.
- Basic computer skills
