Major Responsibilities:
- Lead the ideation process on projects / assignments and identify gaps in the existing products and technologies to guide advanced strategy targets that are critical to Magna.
- Research latest advances in technology building blocks for automotive products & systems, software/data analytics methods and advanced manufacturing techniques.
- Lead, document, and present advances of the projects.
- Research latest advances in technology building blocks for automotive products & systems, software/data analytics methods and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Knowledge and Education:
- Degree in an Engineering or related field (B.Sc, MSc., optional Ph.D)
- Comprehensive understanding about automotive technology especially electrification
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Strong technical and analytical competence in related areas with experience in simulation, design and development of automotive power electronics.
- Experience with innovating technologies and solving complex problems through research, development and demonstration activities.
- Experience of prototyping and testing power electronics circuits and testing e-drives on dynamometer test bench.
- Experience with development and integration of power electronics regarding mechanical, thermal, EMI/EMC as well as manufacturing
- Experience with development and implementation of novel controls methods into embedded systems
- Working knowledge of automotive data protocols and tools
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review technical literature, state-of-the art technologies and market trends to stay informed about emerging and current technologies and methods
- Work with identified suppliers to analyse, test and integrate technologies into Magna products.
- Solve engineering challenges through innovative cutting edge solutions.
- Perform model-based simulation, design, analysis and optimization of complex systems using tools such as Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow, SPICE, PLECS, Ansys, Python or others.
- Analyze structures and magnetic components such as bus bars and high frequency transformers/inductors.
- Design PCBA schematics and layouts
- Develop concepts towards mechanical, thermal, EMI/EMC integration
- Support software, mechanical, systems, test, quality, and reliability engineers.
- Develop and implement controls into embedded systems for power electronics and e-drive testing incl coding and code generation including the use of modern AI based coding.
Work Experience:
- 5+ years of recent, in-depth, hands-on experience in a relevant field in the automotive industry
- Demonstrated ability to apply advanced principles/theories and contribute to the development of solutions to complex problems that require innovation and ingenuity.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize new science and technologies relevant within existing trends and business strategy and extend them into new applications.
- Demonstrated technical ability and creativity to initiate, direct, and control specific projects.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to work in global team-based environment incl up to 25% travel could be international or domestic
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent professional communication skills (written and verbal) and good presence
- Strong strategic thinker with logical reasoning process.
- Self-motivated to complete assignments and be able to independently manage projects.
- Strong skills to find and screen valuable information from various data sources.
- Ability to involve in and contribute to technical discussions in the assigned work areas.
- Ability to summarize essential information in brief executive summary document.
- Ability to approach related engineering analysis from complete system engineering view.
- Ability to lead workpackages and lead projects.
- Work with internal and external teams to innovate, develop, integrate and technologies and methods.
