Ophthalmic Technician
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Ophthalmic/Optometric Technician will report directly to the Clinic Manager and under the direction of the Eye Clinic Providers will perform pre-exam testing, medication administration, and other patientcare tasks as assigned for patients of all ages, gender, cultures, and backgrounds in the clinic setting. The Ophthalmic Technician will also perform laboratory and office duties as needed. This position has no supervisory responsibility.
HOURS
Full time reduced, 32 hours/week.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
1. Adhere to Broadlawns Medical Center service excellence according to Broadlawns Medical Center Employee Expectations.
2. Demonstrate compliance with confidentiality of all patients and Broadlawns Medical Center information.
3. Completion and documentation of all competencies, clinic specific skills, HealthStream, annual in-services, and corporate compliance.
4. Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
5. Demonstrates competence with computers and other office equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school or equivalent
Ability to successfully pass Basic Life Support for healthcare providers certification within six months of hire.
Ability to take part in onsite job training and prove competency through a combination of written and oral testing, demonstration teach-back, and evaluation from clinic manager and providers.
Possess effective written and oral skills.
Basic competency with computers and office equipment.
