Every year, we support around 125,000 people through nearly 200 services – and it’s all made possible by our 3,500 brilliant staff and volunteers.

Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Recovery Coordinator to join our dedicated Recovery Steps Cumbria team based in South Cumbria.

This is a rewarding role where you will work directly with individuals affected by drug and alcohol use, supporting them throughout their recovery journey. You will manage a caseload of service users, delivering person-centred support and interventions that empower individuals to make positive and sustainable changes to their lives.

Key responsibilities include

  • Managing a caseload, devising, implementing and reviewing ongoing recovery and treatment plans.
  • Conducting assessments, risk assessments and safeguarding plans to support effective case management.
  • Facilitating and promoting individuals' progression from engagement, through structured treatment, to self-sustained recovery.
  • Delivering one-to-one and group-based interventions tailored to individual needs.
  • Reducing substance-related harm to individuals, families and the wider community.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, partner agencies and stakeholders to achieve the best possible health and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Supporting service users to access treatment, community resources and recovery-focused opportunities.

About You

You will have a passion for making a difference, with fairness, compassion and respect at the heart of everything you do.

You will hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or be willing to work towards this qualification whilst in post.

You will also have:

  • Experience of, or a strong understanding of, delivering interventions such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Psychosocial Interventions (PSIs), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and ITEP-informed approaches.
  • Experience delivering both one-to-one and group therapeutic interventions.
  • The ability to build positive and professional relationships with service users, colleagues and partner organisations.
  • Knowledge of recovery-focused practice and a commitment to supporting individuals to achieve their goals.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
