Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve or exceed annual sales targets and growth objectives within the assigned territory.
- Develop and execute a territory business plan that prioritizes account retention, penetration, and new customer acquisition.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with researchers, lab managers, procurement professionals, and other key decision-makers.
- Conduct regular in-person and virtual customer visits to understand workflows, identify needs, and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through quoting, negotiation, and close.
- Partner with supplier representatives and internal specialists to deliver joint sales calls, product demonstrations, and technical support.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of customer activity, opportunities, and forecasts in Salesforce.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer feedback; communicate insights to sales leadership and category management.
- Collaborate with customer experience, pricing, and operations teams to ensure a seamless customer experience and timely issue resolution.
- Represent Thomas Scientific at trade shows, vendor days, and customer events as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in a life science discipline (biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of B2B sales experience, preferably in laboratory products, life science distribution, or scientific/medical sales; laboratory bench experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
- Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and territory management skills.
- Working knowledge of laboratory environments, research workflows, and common lab products and equipment.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a field-based role.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the assigned territory (overnight travel as needed).
- Field-based role with regular daily travel by car within the territory; occasional overnight travel for training, trade shows, and company meetings.
- Frequent visits to laboratory, clinical, and industrial environments; must follow customer site safety requirements.
- Ability to lift and transport product samples and demonstration materials up to 25 lbs.
- Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission plan.
