About the Role

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer with deep, hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure and Terraform to build, automate, and manage the infrastructure powering our modern data and AI platforms. This role is fundamentally an infrastructure-as-code position, where your mastery of Azure services and Terraform will be critical. Your primary focus will be on the Azure Databricks ecosystem, applying best practices to ensure our data platform is reliable, scalable, and secure.

In this role, you will be the bridge between our central DevOps team and our data teams. You will use your expertise in cloud automation and infrastructure management to empower Data Engineers and Data Scientists, providing them with a stable and efficient environment to innovate.

Job Qualifications

What You'll Do

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Management: Use Terraform to provision, configure, and manage all aspects of our Azure cloud infrastructure, including VNets, subnets, NSGs, Microsoft Entra ID service principals, and ADLS Gen2 storage.
• CI/CD Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to automate the testing and deployment of both infrastructure (Terraform) and data engineering applications.
• Platform Reliability & Automation: Automate the administration, monitoring (with Azure Monitor), and operational tasks for the Azure Databricks platform to improve reliability and efficiency. Implement and manage cluster policies, instance pools, and cost-control mechanisms.
• Collaboration & Support: Work closely with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to understand their infrastructure needs, troubleshoot deployment and platform issues, and provide a highly available, automated platform.
• Security & Governance Implementation: Implement and automate security controls, network configurations (like Private Endpoints), and identity management in collaboration with security teams. Codify and enforce data governance policies within the platform, including the setup of Databricks Unity Catalog.
• AI-Powered Operations: Utilize AI developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Databricks Assistant) in your daily workflow to accelerate scripting, generate Terraform modules, and troubleshoot complex configurations.

Who You Are (Core Qualifications)

• 4+ years of professional experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Infrastructure role.
• Strong, hands-on experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines, preferably with Azure DevOps.
• Proficient with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with strong, hands-on experience in Terraform.
• Solid hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, especially core services like Azure Virtual Network (VNet), Microsoft Entra ID, and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2).
• Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and tooling.
• Experience with or a strong interest in supporting data platforms, particularly Azure Databricks. You understand the operational lifecycle of data applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a systematic approach to troubleshooting infrastructure and deployment issues.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, service-oriented mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Practical experience with Databricks and data engineering concepts (Python/Scala). You don't need to be a data engineer, but you should understand their workflows.
• Direct, hands-on experience administering Azure Databricks and its components like Unity Catalog.
• Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400).
• Experience using AI-powered developer tools (GitHub Copilot, etc.) in a professional setting.
• Familiarity with AI security concepts (e.g., prompt injection) and how to mitigate them in an infrastructure context.
• Experience with observability tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Grafana for creating alerts and dashboards.
