The Low Voltage Electrician is responsible for the installation of low-voltage systems on commercial construction projects. This role focuses on the physical installation of cable pathways, pulling and terminating low-voltage cabling, mounting devices, and supporting system installations according to project plans and industry standards. This is a hands-on construction position rather than a service or troubleshooting role.

Responsibilities:

  • Pull, route, and secure low-voltage cable (CAT5/6, fiber, coaxial, fire alarm, security, access control, and related wiring).
  • Install conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, supports, and other cable management systems.
  • Mount and install devices, panels, cameras, card readers, speakers, and other low-voltage equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and installation specifications.
  • Assist with rough-in and trim-out phases of commercial construction projects.
  • Work safely from ladders, lifts, and scaffolding.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site.
  • Follow OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies.
  • Coordinate with foremen, electricians, and other trades to complete projects on schedule.
  • Assist senior technicians with system startup and testing as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in commercial low-voltage construction preferred.
  • Ability to pull cable and perform physically demanding work throughout the day.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Basic ability to read construction drawings.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to job sites if required.
  • OSHA 10 certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent climbing, kneeling, crawling, and standing.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, scissor lifts, and construction sites.
