What truly sets us apart is how we work.

We’re curious and ready for what’s next. We embrace digital, use data to make better decisions, and keep learning, including how AI can help us work smarter and serve consumers better.

The role

As the Business Process Expert (BPE) – Finance Data Structure, you will own the end-to-end global design, governance, and continuous improvement of Finance Master Data objects across the organization, excluding the Standard Chart of Accounts.

Your scope will include key financial master data domains such as Company Codes, Profit Centers, Cost Centers, Segments, Functional Areas, Project Structure & WBS Elements, finance aspects of Customer, Vendor (i.e. Business Partner) and Material master, Tax structures, Bank master data, and Fixed Asset master data.

You will ensure that Finance Master Data remains standardized, scalable, and compliant, acting as a critical backbone for financial processing, controlling, statutory reporting, tax, and management reporting.

Acting as the key link between Finance (e.g. Group Controller’s team, Tax, Treasury, Performance management), GBS operations, and IT/Digital teams, you will define the global blueprint for financial data structures and drive consistency, automation, and data integrity across regions and systems.

Bottom of Form

What you'll be responsible for

1. Global Finance Master Data ownership

You are accountable for the global design and governance of all Finance Master Data objects (excluding SCOA – Standard Chart of Accounts). This includes defining structures, hierarchies, attributes, and design principles for:

•             Organizational units (Company Code, Controlling Area, Business Area, Segment)

•             Management accounting objects (Cost Centers, Profit Centers, Project Structure, WBS Elements)

•             Finance aspects of Business Partner (Customers, Vendors) and Material master

•             Fixed Assets and Asset Classes

•             Tax and Bank master data

You ensure consistency across all entities, regions, and systems.

2. Data model design and integration

You define and maintain the end-to-end Finance data model, ensuring proper relationships and integration between master data objects (e.g. Profit Center ↔ Segment, Cost Center ↔ Functional Area, BP ↔ Company Code views).

You ensure alignment between Controlling, FP&A / Performance Management, Tax, Treasury, and operational processes.

3. Change control and design authority

You act as the global gatekeeper for all Finance Master Data changes. You design and operate robust governance and approval workflows for creation, modification, and deactivation of master data.

You ensure all changes are assessed for financial, reporting, tax, and operational impacts before implementation.

4. Process standardization and harmonization

You drive global standardization of Finance Master Data definitions, usage rules, and naming conventions.

You eliminate regional inconsistencies and ensure alignment with Group policies, controlling frameworks, and reporting requirements.

5. Master data governance and data quality

You establish and enforce governance frameworks, including:

•             Data ownership and stewardship models

•             Data quality rules, validations, and KPIs

•             Periodic data reviews and cleansing initiatives

You ensure high data integrity across ERP and reporting systems.

6. Systems and integration ownership

You ensure Finance Master Data is correctly configured and maintained within ERP systems (e.g. SAP S/4HANA) and integrated platforms.

You define system requirements, support enhancements, and collaborate with IT/Digital teams to enable:

•             Automation of master data processes

•             Workflow-based approvals

•             Seamless integration with upstream/downstream systems

7. Reporting and controlling alignment

You ensure Finance Master Data structures support:

•             Management reporting (e.g. Profit Center, Segment reporting)

•             Cost allocation and controlling processes

•             Statutory and tax reporting requirements

You work closely with Controlling, FP&A, and Group Reporting teams to ensure data structures enable accurate and meaningful insights.

8. Continuous improvement and simplification

You proactively identify opportunities to simplify Finance Master Data structures, reduce redundancy, and improve usability.

You drive initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and automation in master data management.

9. M&A and onboarding support

You support mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures by defining master data onboarding and mapping strategies across all Finance domains.

You ensure rapid integration of new entities while maintaining global standards and minimizing exceptions.

10. Stakeholder management and functional leadership

You collaborate closely with Global Finance teams (Controlling, Performance Management, Tax, Treasury), GBS operations, and IT.

You act as the central point of expertise for Finance Master Data and lead the global network of data owners and stewards.

11. Documentation and transparency

You ensure that all Finance Master Data definitions, hierarchies, and governance rules are clearly documented and accessible.

You promote transparency and usability, enabling stakeholders to correctly understand and apply master data structures.

12. Transformation and digital enablement

You play a key role in finance transformation programs (e.g. ERP implementations, data harmonization, automation initiatives).

You ensure Finance Master Data requirements are embedded into system and process design and support adoption across the organization.
