The National Director (ND) is responsible for leading the World Vision Timor-Leste (WVTL) Field Office, including ensuring high-quality programs, leading the senior leadership team, ensuring accountability to communities and donors for meeting targets, and maintaining alignment with the World Vision global strategy. You will be deeply comfortable with leading transformative change and relish the prospect of representing World Vision to the highest levels of government, development partners, civil society, and the media.
The ND models a high standard of personal Christian leadership, ministry, and integrity, leading by examples through lifestyle and work relationships, and providing spiritual guidance to staff on the organization’s Vision, Mission and Core Values.
Your Key Responsibilities will include:
Providing strategic direction and adaptive leadership of WVTL to improve child well-being, ensuring a high level of integration and collaboration with partners, Support Offices and the South Asia Pacific Regional Office.
Leading the development of strong Ministry Objectives that directly contribute to the achievement of prioritized Child Results within a primarily grant-funded environment
Providing leadership through building strong partnerships with Government and local civil society to build their capacity and strengthen systems in health, disaster management, climate change, and social development.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, standards and requirements, including local country requirements.
Actively engaging in resource development - building relationships and networks to position WVTL to secure diverse funding opportunities to implement the country strategy.
Promoting strong financial management in a grants-funded context.
Providing positive people and culture management/ leadership for WVTL
Ensuring adequate preparation for and engagement during an emergency response
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:
Ten or more years of experience in senior management, preferably with global non-profit organizations and/or international exposure.
Experience in Asia and a sound understanding of the political, social, religious and economic context in Timor-Leste
Degree in international development, business administration, public health, social science, management or related discipline, preferably at Master's level
Significant leadership experience particularly in securing grant funding in a variety of contexts.
Experience in running an office or organisation, including managing strategy, system, structure and organisational culture.
Experience in managing disasters, development and social accountability as well as programmes that influence policy design and implementation
Cross-cultural leadership skill - candidates must have experiences working globally in different context and culture.
Commitment to social justice beliefs and values.
Experience in active participation in NGO/industry networks
Knowledge of various donors such as DFAT, MFAT, EU, UNICEF, USAID
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and if not fluent in the local language, display a commitment to learn the local language within the first year.
Adequate physical health to meet the demands of the job.
