About the role

We're looking for a Technical Manager to help ensure our food products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
Reporting to the Senior Product & Technical Manager, you will provide technical leadership across the Wild Bean Café food portfolio, ensuring products are safe, legal, and fit for retail environments. You'll work closely with suppliers, product development teams, and operational partners to drive continuous improvement and protect the integrity of the Wild Bean Café brand.
What you will do
Lead the implementation and maintenance of food safety systems, including HACCP, ensuring compliance with UK and EU legislation.
Manage quality assurance processes and oversee internal and external audits.
Partner with suppliers to ensure raw material quality and address technical issues and food safety risks.
Prepare for and support supplier, customer, and regulatory audits.
Maintain accurate technical documentation, including product specifications, audit records, and compliance data.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety, quality, and operational effectiveness.
Provide technical expertise and ingredient knowledge to support product development projects.
Review, approve, and maintain product specifications and technical standards.
Support HACCP and SERT activities across the Wild Bean Café portfolio.
Collaborate with product development, marketing, and central teams to support sourcing and brand guidelines.
Build effective relationships with key customers across the end-to-end supply chain.
Support supplier performance management and technical governance of outsourced food safety activities where applicable.
What you will need
Crucial experience
Solid understanding of UK and EU food legislation.
HACCP Level 4 qualification.
Food Safety Level 3 qualification.
Experience within food manufacturing and/or food production environments.
Experience in food technology or technical food management roles.
Knowledge of BRCGS standards and audit requirements.
Strong customer management and communication skills.
Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced commercial environment.
Nice to have
Experience within retail, foodservice, or convenience sectors.
Experience managing supplier quality and technical compliance programmes.
Knowledge of packaging compliance and sustainability requirements.
Experience supporting product innovation and new product development.
Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent food safety auditing experience.
