Overview
AtkinsRéalis is looking for a Planning & Scheduling Engineering, in Riyadh, KSA.
The Planning & Scheduling Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules for major roads, highways, bridges, interchanges, and transportation infrastructure projects within a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) environment. The role will support project delivery teams by ensuring effective planning, progress measurement, schedule analysis, and performance reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in infrastructure projects and extensive experience in planning and scheduling within a PMC or consultancy environment, providing planning expertise across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
Your role
Planning & Scheduling
Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
Prepare baseline schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and project execution plans.
Monitor project progress against approved baselines and identify variances.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commercial teams to ensure schedule alignment.
Review and evaluate contractors' baseline schedules, recovery schedules, and revised programs.
Ensure schedule compliance with contractual requirements and project milestones.
Develop short-term and long-term look-ahead schedules to support project delivery.
Progress Monitoring & Analysis
Track project progress and productivity against planned activities.
Analyze schedule performance and critical path activities.
Identify delays, bottlenecks, and potential schedule risks.
Prepare schedule variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
Support the development of mitigation and recovery plans where required.
Perform schedule integrity and health checks.
Project Controls & Reporting
Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and management presentations.
Develop key planning and performance indicators (KPIs).
Support project forecasting and earned value assessments.
Assist in change management processes by evaluating schedule impacts arising from design changes, variations, and claims.
Coordinate with cost control and risk management teams to ensure integrated project controls reporting.
Schedule Risk Management
Support Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA) activities.
Assist in identifying schedule-related risks and opportunities.
Participate in quantitative schedule assessments and Monte Carlo simulations.
Contribute to schedule confidence assessments and contingency planning.
Support the development of risk-adjusted schedules and project forecasts.
Stakeholder Coordination
Participate in planning and progress meetings with clients, contractors, consultants, and project teams.
Provide planning advice and recommendations to Project Managers and Project Controls teams.
Ensure effective communication of schedule status, key milestones, and critical issues to stakeholders.
Support project management teams in achieving schedule objectives and contractual obligations.
About you
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
Professional certification such as PMI-SP, PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional), PMP, or AACE certifications is highly desirable.
Minimum 15 years of experience in planning and scheduling for major infrastructure projects.
Proven experience within a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) or engineering consultancy environment.
Extensive experience on major roads, highways, bridges, interchanges, tunnels, and transportation infrastructure projects.
Experience reviewing contractor schedules and monitoring construction progress on large-scale civil works projects.
Previous experience on projects delivered for government entities, transport authorities, or major infrastructure clients is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, from design and procurement through construction and handover.
