What you'll contribute to
The Senior Payroll Specialist is primarily responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of company payroll and total rewards employee services to meet business objectives by implementing systems, policies and procedures related to the way employees are rewarded and providing specialist advice to managers and HR stakeholders related to payroll and superannuation.
The role has a particular focus on managing complex payroll environments across 2 organisations, supporting employees covered under Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs), and working closely with our outsourced payroll provider to deliver accurate and compliant payroll outcomes.
How you'll make an impact
You will be responsible for the effective administration and continuous improvement of payroll operations, ensuring payroll systems, processes and procedures align with company policies, legislative requirements and business objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing end-to-end payroll operations and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payments.
- Administering payroll for a diverse workforce, including employees working variable rosters, overtime and shift-based arrangements.
- Interpreting and applying Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs), Awards and relevant legislation to ensure payroll compliance.
- Partnering with our outsourced payroll service provider to monitor service delivery, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Supporting payroll system administration and optimisation, including experience working within Chris21 payroll environments.
- Delivering payroll-related reporting, analysis and insights to support workforce planning, forecasting and business decision-making.
- Providing payroll advice and support to managers, employees and HR stakeholders.
- Managing payroll compliance, audits, statutory reporting and risk mitigation activities.
Your attributes
- Equivalent experience in Payroll
- Demonstrated experience using Chris21 payroll systems.
- Proven experience processing payroll for shift-based workforces, including complex roster, overtime and penalty rate calculations.
- Strong working knowledge of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs), Awards and employment legislation.
- Experience working within an outsourced payroll delivery model, partnering with external payroll providers to achieve service excellence.
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel capability.
- Track record of successfully delivering payroll services and solutions that support business outcomes.
- Ability to analyse data, solve problems and work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and relationship-building skills.
