Job Description
As a China/Asia Economist, you will be responsible for writing research and making forecasts on the Chinese economy with extension to the Asia region. The research will focus on the macroeconomic environment and its implications for investment in equity, interest rate, and foreign exchange markets.
You will work on the China and regional teams and collaborate closely with the broader research team both domestically and globally. You will be involved in compiling and analyzing economic data, quantitative analysis, economic forecasting, ad hoc client requests, as well as making contributions to written research reports, while interacting with both internal and external clients. The position is in Hong Kong.
Required Experience:
- Master or Ph.D. degree in Economics or Finance
- Preferably 5+ years working as a macro analyst/economist with a macro-economic focus
- High level written and verbal communication skills in English; fluent in Chinese and/or a major language in the region
- Experience with quantitative analysis and database management. Proficiency in data programing/modeling and quantitative research background can be a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with both internal and external clients
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines, with high level of initiative and motivation
- Experience with econometric software as well as data and news services including Bloomberg, Wind and CEIC
