Your Team:

The asset control team sits within Finance Operations. It supports the safeguarding of customer cash and assets relating to the share dealing business, and it reconciles client positions with custodians and brokers, manages settlements, and processes taxes and levies. 

We are looking for a senior, hands-on professional to lead the operational delivery of projects and launch of new products within our Asset Control’s team, taking them from idea to implementation to business-as-usual activity. This includes in change across IG’s share dealing, crypto and digital asset products, including custody migrations, new custody models, new markets and new products. You’ll work closely with our product teams, cash operations teams, finance systems and changes teams, and corporate actions teams. You’ll also support our asset control team to transform their day-to-day operations, bringing ideas for best practise, strengthened controls and automation. 

Key responsibilities: 

Product change 

• Represent Asset Control in asset-related projects across share dealing, crypto and digital assets, including new custody migrations, new custody models, new markets and new products. 

• Assess the impact of each change on reconciliations, settlements, corporate actions, tax and client asset protection, and design new processes to meet requirements. 

• Lead Asset Control’s UAT and go-live readiness, and update procedures and controls before go-live. 

• Act as Asset Control’s main point of contact for the share dealing, crypto and digital asset product and change teams. 

Custody migration delivery 

• Own Asset Control’s workstream in the current custody migration through to completion, covering reconciliations, trading and settlements. 

• Maintain a single log of migration issues and breaks, lead root-cause analysis and agree permanent fixes with the broker, Operations and Finance Systems. 

• Confirm that new processes, procedures and controls are embedded, and that legacy processes are decommissioned, before the migration is closed. 

Process improvements and controls 

• Identify the opportunities to transform the day-to-day operations of the team. 

• Challenge existing processes where they are manual, inefficient or carry control risk, and implement improvements. 
• Act as a point of contact for internal and external auditors. 

Deputising and team support 

• Deputise for the Asset Control Manager when required, including periods of absence, covering day-to-day prioritisation, review and sign-off, and escalation to the Head of Financial Operations. 
• Coach analysts and build backup for key controls through documentation and cross-training. 
• Build effective working relationships with the CASS team, Cash Control, Hedging Control, Operations, Compliance, Finance Systems and divisional Product teams. 

Skills and experience: 

Essential 

• Significant experience in custody, asset servicing, settlements, and reconciliations within a regulated broker, bank or investment platform. 

• Experience of equity settlement, corporate actions and multi-market share dealing. 

• Experience of working with project teams on product launches and business change.  

• A track record of owning complex issues through to closure, with the confidence to challenge existing practices and influence stakeholders at all levels. 

Desirable 

• Hands-on experience of delivering custody or broker migrations, or onboarding new custodians or markets, from the operations or controls side. 

• Experience with global brokers or custodians across US, European and APAC markets. 

• Experience with reconciliation tools and SQL, Power BI or automation tools. 

• Experience leading teams through periods of change. 

What success looks like by the end of the contract 

• The custody migration is completed and all related issues are closed. 
• Asset Control impact is assessed at the start of every new custody, market or product project, including crypto and digital assets. 
• Open process issues and audit actions are owned and closing to agreed deadlines. 
• Procedures and RACM reflect current practice, and every key control has a trained backup.
