Job Title

Vice President, Product Manager - Master Data Management (MDM)

Job Description

As a Vice President (VP) Product Manager in the Master Data Management (MDM) team, you will own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and delivery of the MDM platform supporting Blackstone's finance platforms and broader enterprise data needs. You will partner with business, data, technology, governance, and operations stakeholders to identify high-value problems, define product capabilities, prioritize investments, and drive adoption. You will translate business outcomes into clear product requirements, lead cross-functional delivery, establish success measures, and ensure the platform delivers trusted, governed, and reusable master data at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Vision and Strategy: Define and communicate the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for the MDM platform, aligned with business priorities, enterprise data strategy, and measurable outcomes.
  • Product Roadmap and Prioritization: Own the product backlog and roadmap; evaluate opportunities, dependencies, risks, and trade-offs to prioritize capabilities that deliver the greatest business value.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong partnerships with senior executives, business domain owners, data stewards, technology teams, and control functions to understand needs, align priorities, and secure sponsorship.
  • Product Discovery and Requirements: Lead discovery sessions, define personas and use cases, translate business needs into clear product requirements and acceptance criteria, and validate solutions with end users.
  • Cross-Functional Delivery: Partner with engineering, architecture, data governance, operations, and program management teams to deliver scalable MDM capabilities on time and with high quality.
  • Data Governance and Controls: Embed data ownership, stewardship, quality, lineage, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements into the product operating model and platform capabilities.
  • Adoption and Value Realization: Develop rollout, change management, training, and communication plans; track adoption, user experience, service performance, and business value through defined KPIs and OKRs.
  • Market and Thought Leadership: Monitor MDM, data product, AI, and financial services trends; assess vendor capabilities and emerging practices; and use insights to continuously improve the product strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, data management, enterprise platforms, or related roles, including experience leading complex products at scale.
  • Strong understanding of Master Data Management concepts, including data domains, governance, stewardship, data quality, hierarchy management, matching and merging, and reference data.
  • Proven experience defining product vision, strategy, roadmaps, business cases, requirements, and measurable success outcomes for enterprise data or platform products.
  • Working knowledge of modern data platforms, data integration patterns, APIs, cloud technologies, analytics, and software delivery practices; hands-on engineering expertise is not required.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and executive presentation skills, with the skill to simplify complex data and technology topics for audiences.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the skill to navigate ambiguity and create structure in evolving environments.
  • Demonstrated skill leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior business, technology, data governance, operations, and control stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Track record of delivering complex, multi-year product initiatives, managing dependencies and trade-offs, and driving adoption and measurable business value.
  • Experience in financial services, finance data, or other highly governed and regulated environments is preferred.
  • Degree in business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering, or a related field.
