Responsibilities / Position overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Development & Marketing (Commercial) Operations Director to drive excellence of our Medical Strategy and Communications (MSC) business development and marketing efforts.

 

Reporting to the VP, Growth Strategy the primary responsibilities are as follows:

 

New Business Development Resources:

• Develop, enhance and maintain a suite of business development resources including, but not limited to, databases of proposals, RFPs, RFIs, case studies, team biographies, client footprints and therapeutic experience.
• Utilize AI and technology to optimize access and utilisation of these resources
• Make recommendations to improve the access, utility and use of these resources.

Marketing, Thought Leadership and Congresses:

• Project manage the delivery of MSCs presence at key industry congresses including developing and maintaining a timeline, liaison with internal stakeholders and external providers and ensuring delivery of all aspects of our congress presence.
• In partnership with the VP of Marketing, support delivery of marketing and thought leadership pieces.

New Business Development (NBD) and Marketing Processes and Systems

• Support the development and maintenance of NBD processes and systems that support the conversion of marketing leads into sales leads and sales leads into opportunities and wins. 
• Entry into and maintenance of data into systems such as leads, client contact information, opportunities and target lists.
• Maintenance of Excel-based NBD and marketing trackers, project timelines and status reports.

 

Proposal and Client Growth Support:

• Lead the completion of Requests for Information (RFIs), working closely with internal subject matter experts and the relevant VPs of Growth. 
• Support the VPs of Growth Strategy in their efforts to complete proposals and RFPs.
• Track proposal win/loss outcomes and feed insights back into the resource library and future bids

Commercial Excellence:

• Develop and maintain dashboards and metrics reports to inform improvements in our NBD and marketing strategies and tactics.
• Recommend, lead and support projects and initiatives to enhance the way that MSC manages business development, lead generation and marketing.
• Maintain a deep understanding of market trends, pharma client needs, and industry dynamics to inform your approach to commercial operations.
• Share insights and ideas with colleagues to refine business development and marketing operations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of business development, marketing and commercial operations experience within the life sciences sector, ideally within healthcare consulting or a related service industry.
• Understanding of pharmaceutical operations and procurement processes.
• Experience with CRM and marketing/lead-gen platforms (e.g., Salesforce, NetSuite, HubSpot) or similar systems.
• Ability to synthesize data from CRM/marketing systems into actionable dashboards and insights that inform NBD and marketing strategy and activities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects/deadlines in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
• Strong internal client focused mindset with strong listening and influencing skills.
