Overview

Vogue Shopping is looking for a sharp, authoritative, and culturally engaged Senior Fashion Writer to join the Vogue Shopping team, with a focus on fashion, style, and shopping.

This role is suited to an experienced writer and storyteller with a discerning eye for fashion, deep knowledge of the designer and retail landscape, and a strong understanding of the brands, trends, and pieces shaping how women dress and shop today. We're looking for someone who can identify what audiences are searching for, spot an emerging trend or commercial opportunity, develop a compelling editorial angle, and translate those insights into distinctive, authoritative Vogue storytelling.

The successful candidate will combine strong editorial judgment and fashion expertise with an analytical and commercial mindset, understanding both what makes a compelling fashion story and what drives audience engagement and shopping behavior. They should be as comfortable developing an SEO- or GEO-led evergreen shopping guide as they are reporting on a runway trend, writing a first-person product review, curating a seasonal fashion edit, providing styling advice, or creating social-first video content.

They will help shape Vogue's fashion commerce coverage, bringing a strong point of view to the products, designers, and trends worth investing in, while developing new editorial franchises and identifying key seasonal, cultural, and shopping opportunities relevant to the Vogue audience.

This writer should also be comfortable developing stories across multiple platforms and formats, understanding how an idea can extend across Vogue.com, newsletters, search, social, and video while maintaining Vogue's distinctive editorial voice, authority, and point of view. This role reports into Vogue’s Shopping Fashion Market Director.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Write distinctive, authoritative commerce and service journalism spanning women's fashion, accessories, and personal style, maintaining Vogue's editorial standards and reader trust.
  • Bring a discerning eye for fashion trends and a sophisticated understanding of the designers, brands, retailers, and products shaping the contemporary fashion landscape, from luxury fashion houses to emerging labels and accessible brands.
  • Produce a compelling mix of shopping edits, product recommendations, trend stories, reviews, first-person testing, service journalism, evergreen guides, and reported features.
  • Contribute original ideas and stories to tentpole shopping packages around key moments, from Fashion Month and seasonal wardrobe transitions to holiday gifting, and sale season.
  • Develop compelling, service-driven styling content, including outfit formulas, wardrobe guides, and creative ways to wear key pieces, helping readers translate fashion trends into their everyday wardrobes.
  • Bring a strong visual and styling sensibility to storytelling, with the ability to curate cohesive looks, identify unexpected pairings, and communicate a clear fashion point of view across written, visual, and social-first formats.
  • Develop original franchises and repeatable editorial formats that build audience loyalty and strengthen Vogue's authority as a leading destination for fashion discovery, personal style, and shopping.
  • Think beyond the written article, developing content for Vogue.com, newsletters, social, and video, including social-first, UGC, styling-focused, and personality-led formats.
  • Apply SEO and GEO best practices, using search trends and audience behavior to identify what readers are looking for and inform timely, relevant editorial ideas.
  • Bring an analytical mindset to content performance, using audience and commerce data to identify high-performing brands, products, and categories, optimize existing content, and uncover new editorial and commercial opportunities.
  • Collaborate with editorial, fashion, social, video, design, audience development, partnerships, and other teams to ensure strong execution, visual storytelling, and promotion across channels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with designers, brands, retailers, PR contacts, and relevant industry sources to stay informed about emerging trends, new collections, product launches, and developments across the fashion industry.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience writing and creating content in a fast-paced digital media environment, ideally across fashion, commerce, shopping, or service journalism, with a strong editorial voice and excellent fashion judgment.
  • Deep knowledge of women's fashion, with a discerning eye for emerging trends, a strong understanding of the designer and retail landscape, and an informed perspective on the brands, products, and categories influencing how women shop today.
  • A strong instinct for styling and outfit building, with the ability to offer thoughtful, original, and accessible fashion advice that goes beyond product recommendations to inspire readers in how they get dressed.
  • A demonstrated ability to translate runway trends, cultural moments, and shifts in personal style into compelling, accessible, and commercially relevant editorial storytelling.
  • Strong knowledge of SEO and GEO best practices and an analytical mindset, using audience, search, and commerce data to identify opportunities, understand shopping behavior, and improve editorial performance.
  • A proven ability to originate ideas and franchises across platforms, creating compelling content for articles, newsletters, social, and short-form video, including UGC, styling content, and first-person storytelling.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and reporting skills, with the ability to balance Vogue's editorial authority and fashion point of view with accessible, useful, and engaging shopping recommendations.
  • A highly collaborative, self-motivated approach, with the ability to take ownership of work, manage multiple stories and deadlines, and work effectively across teams.

Above all, we're looking for someone with a strong fashion sensibility, a distinctive editorial point of view, and the ability to translate both into compelling commerce opportunities. A journalist who understands fashion and the market behind it, can anticipate what Vogue readers will want to know, wear, and shop next, and turn those insights into original, authoritative, and inspiring Vogue storytelling.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $85,000 - $95,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.

This is a guild position.
