The SOW identifies the Observability Architect (L4) role with responsibility for architecture, advanced onboarding, engineering governance, and observability standards.
Please note this is not a direct employment, but an external contractor opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the target Observability Platform architecture across infrastructure, cloud, applications, SaaS services, and approved telemetry sources.
- Establish reusable architecture standards and patterns for Metrics, Events, Logs and Traces (M.E.L.T.), telemetry pipelines, integrations, dashboards, alerting, and operational intelligence.
- Lead technical discovery and advanced onboarding of new infrastructure, applications, platforms, and telemetry sources.
- Drive architecture and integration across LogicMonitor, Edwin AI, LogicMonitor APM, Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and approved Dynatrace capabilities.
- Define and guide OpenTelemetry adoption, telemetry standardization, instrumentation, tagging, correlation, and data-exposure patterns.
- Architect integrations with ServiceNow, CMDB, Service Mapping, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Monitor, vCenter, DevOps/CI-CD tooling, and approved automation capabilities.
- Provide architecture leadership for application observability, distributed tracing, synthetic monitoring, API/website monitoring, and application telemetry.
- Enable event correlation, anomaly detection, alert enrichment, noise reduction, and AIOps capabilities.
- Identify and architect approved observability-driven automation and remediation use cases.
- Define technical standards for operational dashboards and telemetry visualization.
- Ensure solutions meet applicable scalability, resilience, security, compliance, data-protection, and GxP requirements.
- Facilitate architecture and technical-design workshops and provide clear recommendations on technical dependencies, risks, and design decisions.
- Develop architecture documentation, reusable patterns, onboarding guidance, and knowledge-transfer materials.
Required Experience
- Strong experience designing enterprise observability solutions across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
- Deep understanding of metrics, events, logs, traces, telemetry pipelines, alerting, dashboards, correlation, and dependency mapping.
- Experience with enterprise observability/APM platforms and OpenTelemetry.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Experience integrating observability with ITSM, CMDB, identity, DevOps, and automation platforms.
